C32 Fault - Power Commander 111 Issue?

Hi Folks,

I started my K2 after her winter slumber today but got a C32 fault - #4 injector issue. Obviously it ran rough running on 3 but the fault disappeared on disconnecting my PC111. It ran sweet as a nut without the PC111.

I'm stumped as to my next move and know nothing about Power commanders. Do I need the PC 111 ? and How do I go about re-installing it so that it doesnt cause further faults?
My K2 has a full Akra system.

Thanks.

You don't need the PC3 it's an add on, I have one mainly because it smooths things out at low speed. They are normally pretty reliable and seem to last forever, it may be worth checking and cleaning up the electrical plugs that you will have disconnected today, and trying it again, also you can go on the power commander web site and download generic map files but for best results a dyno run and cistom map is best

Cheers

Grumpy old man

If he has an akra full exhaust it will most probably run dangerously lean without adjusting the fuel with the power commander

The akra pipe is a single wall exhaust with quite a large inner diameter over the factory twin walled headers

There are stories abound of bikes running so hot at idle that the headers are glowing red at idle

My old bandit 1200 wouldn't pull past about 4000 rpm when a full Yoshimura system fitted over the factory smaller internal header pipes with a Yoshimura slip on

And 1st gen bandit 1200's used to run rich from the factory !

I then fitted a jet kit and it went like Sh1t off a very shiny shovel everywhere from idle to the limiter and wheelied everywhere

I'd clean the connectors first, those grey multiplugs are well known for causing issues with or without a PC3 fitted.

For it to show a fault it's pretty much saying the injector isn't connected, so a dirty or corroded connector is the likely cause. I've never known a PC die, even though people often blame them.

Thanks all.
I'll check the connections & take it from there.

The PC will either work or it won't, it won't just cause one injector to be an issue.

I'd check both the grey plug (as already mentioned) and your injector connections - particularly on the one potentially showing as an issue
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

It *could* be, there are two wires to each injector from the PC3 after all. But it's highly unlikely to be anything except a wiring fault on that pair rather than the physical PC3 itself.

So, I checked all the connectors and wiring to the injectors and separately on the PC111 itself and found nothing wrong.
Dynojet UK kindly agreed to check the PC111 for me as it is a very early pre USB type that, as I understand it, came mapped. They found no issue but explained that given its type and age, a map couldn't be re-installed.

I purchased a PC5 at 25% discount with a suitable map installed and fitted it to-day.

She's running normally again just in time to get out in this good weather. :smile2:

Glad you got sorted and you can get out again

I think that it is still possible to upload maps to a serial PC3 just an adaptor required if I remember correctly, I have had one in the past on a previous 14 - you should notice a difference mainly at low speeds with the PC5 and generic map as it will get rid of the snatchy throttle at low revs, if you get a custom map done by a good tuner then it will make a big difference & save you some fuel

Hooli

I've got a serial PC3 & you can upload maps to them, the difference is the fuel table is every 500rpm compared to 250rpm on the USB versions. I don't think Power Commander offer the software anymore though & you can't download any maps from them anymore either.

If it's the pc3 that's got a fault give dynajet a shout .
As if the older one they have been good and replaced obsolete ones having faults .
Good luck
