Grumpy old man

Greetings from New Zealand

I just got myself a K7 GSX1400 that is just run in at 51,000km's

Been riding daily for just about my entire life off rd as a youngster and on road up to date just about to turn 53 years ancient
I just sold my near new Triumph Tiger sport .Beautiful bike but it left me with nothing to do

This new to me 1400 needs a bit of love and a bloody good scrub and a bit of old age wiping away new tires going on tomorrow and I have been cleaning all the running gear and chassis today

This will be a daily ride come rain hail or shine as it is I bought it 200km's away from home and rode it home through a torrential storm with slips and heavy surface flooding but I couldn't get the stupid grin off my face what a great motor

Can't say the same for the bald front tire

Cheers

Gidday Grumpy, great to have you aboard.  There's lots to like about a GSX1400, think you're just finding that out.

Thanks for the welcome

Hopefully we will soon be moving to Matamata the cops seem to be a bit more tolerant there

I spent most of today cleaning tar off things removing rust from the mirror stalks ,removing the little blue and white bikini fairing/ screen , cleaning the chain swing arm , rewiring the heated grips removing the radar distraction detector

Tomorrow I begin really scrubbing the bits that I missed and compiling a shopping list of new parts needed

Plugs
Air filter
Oil filter
Oil

Some touch up paint for assorted stone chips

Research some paint for the fork lowers as time has been cruel to the lower legs
Fit Gps cradle

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed tinkering and fixing bits after a diet of new bikes for the last 10 years

Welcome to the forum Grumpy,  :onya: I had a Tiger Sport for three years, a good bike but a bit characterless (for a triple), I preferred my Speed triple so the sport had to go.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

cheers grumpy,  (Horowhenua NZ here)  Just on a year ownership here and haven't looked back.

Went right thru mine adjusting Susp etc ,but knew the buggered tyres were affecting feel of it. Found the front wheel axle finger tight !!!!   New tyres made it like I thought it should be.

I'm almost 72 yrs, but this baby is keeping me riding.
(the gsxr1000 was getting just too hard for this old bod).

Enjoy !  Roo.

Just about enough of us now to organize a NZ 14 owners meet up trip........
and we are allowed  :boogie:

Grumpy, these 14's are touchy about chain and throttle cable adjustment. Chain tightens a lot when you do the axle nut up.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
