Hi everyone ..
Being a guy of a substantial build (140kgs)  I am wondering whether anyone has tried those settings, and what they think of them.
I have seen that others say they work two up as well as solo, so I wonder if they would suit.
Or, in the alternative, any other suggestions gratefully accepted ..
Cheers Mike.

The MCN settings  (for those interested or wondering - look in the 'downloads - other' section of this forum) are a great starting point.

So much depends not solely on your weight, but also your riding style and even how 'tired'your shocks and springs may be.

For example a bike ridden by a big guy daily for 10 years will be tired.
A bike with recently rebuilt shocks - a different story.
A bike that's low kms untouched.. different again.

I think that's the reason that similar discussion in the past have never really yielded satisfactory answers.

The solution.

For the well heeled: Get yourself, your bike and your wallet off to a motorcycle suspension set up specialist.
I've no idea where you are (maybe pop your location in your profile info?) but this is an example of a recommended place close to where I am. http://www.mpesuspension.com.au/index.html

For the rest of us:  Find a starting point from the MCN settings and trial-and-error from there.  Obviously incremental changes and only to one variable at a time.

There are some great sites on the internet that explain suspension and give a guide as to how to adjust it.  A quick search reveals these as promising....

I did. Great with devastating results...

I'm about 90Kg - 14stone 10lb. Bloke I bought it from was about 8 stone dripping wet through. I was off work at the time due to post-op. So, I had loads of time to fiddle. Mine is a K3 by the way - you can see where this is going. Can't you?

First ride. Shock pissing oil out. Phone call to Hagon.

Since then I've had the forks serviced. Fresh oil etc. Swapped the Hagons for a pair of Ohlins. Only because I have the attitude - you only live once.

But, I found the the pressures totally wrong. Dangerous in my opinion. Go for 36F 42R.

So ... probably should have realised by now that the shocks are aftermarket Hagon Nitros ..
So I guess the MCN settings won`t apply!!
Best I can find online is a recommendation for bottom wheel at 5 (halfway) and 11 rings showing at the top.
Remembering that one up I am 2 up (140 kgs) anyone prepared to concur or comment??
Cheers Mike.

Ask your mechanic to recommend a suspension guy, if he's not one as well, I'm lucky mine is.
Spend 50 bucks or thereabouts and have it set for you.
Prolly take an afternoon.
It will be money well spent.

Oddly enough - lad that services my 14 knows his stuff regards suspension. I do most work. But, he does the MOT and gives the 14 a once-over. Especially the brakes. I'm more than happy for a second opinion.

I did the MCN settings on the forks. Trouble was - the rear OEM shockers hadn't been touched. Fatal. Once I started fiddling - ripped the seals. First of all I fitted a pair of Nitro's. But, I always loved the look of Ohlins. Proper ones not the Yamaha ones. A year previous, I'd done a lot of extra hours at work. And I thought 'sod-it'. You cannot take it with you...

My missus doesn't ride pillion so much now. So, I just leave well alone now.
