I had a similar noise Seth pointed me to the swing arm brake calliper brace. I had overtightened it. Worth a check

There's some progress. The front sprocket was rattling when rotated on the splines of the gearbox output. I undid it with relative ease just in gear without a chain on there. I suspect that it wasn't at 115nm.

It couldn't have undone itself as there the speedo magnet thingy on the end of the shaft with a hex bolt through the centre.

Might explain some of the clunking.

Yeah, it's not unknown for the front sprocket to loosen itself off. I always put a bit of white marker from the sprocket to the nut to see if there's any movement, easy to see if there is as the line doesn't match up any more.

They all do that sir. Lots of threadlock is your friend as well as checking it occasionally.

My sprocket carrier bearing,  as removed 24k mls
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

Hooli

Pfft try harder, this bearing managed 9k miles. I'll never buy 'All Balls' again.

Oh & yes all that 'stuff' came out of it as I removed it.

KiwiCol

Bloody hell!   I bet those 2 bearings were noisy and rough.

Just wondering how you get noise from a tight caliper brace?

Mine was creaking a bit, I kept thinking it can't be the carrier bearing as it's too new. Then I finally looked...

How on earth can sprocket carrier bearings be changed with new ones? Thank you. My just bought bike has 64k miles so worth checking them I think.

Mate, easy to change. Buy a good brand, SKF, NSK, Timken,Koyo etc. Not AllBalls.

Sprocket carrier bearing is a weak point on !4 and Busa ( the same bearing).
That's why I use quality brands only ( Koyo, SKF, FAG.).
Two rear tyres / one bearing in my use.
On Busa forums are topics how to build stronger bearings to sprocket carrier .
