Does anyone have experience with 17 teeth front sprocket on our bike?
I know, 14 have a lot of torque, but I'm just wondering :)

Have a play on Gearing Commander northern...It'll give you some idea of how a 17t will affect things.
I would imagine that it would liven accelleration up a bit, as if it wasn't fast enough already ;)

A 17 tooth front sprocket is oem size for a gen 1 Busa. Straight swap.

Actually, I know how to do it and I have done -1 teeth on my previous 600cc yamaha... I know where to get sprocket and it's not expensive at all.

Theoretically: higher torque on rear wheel, but "shorter" gears. Or actually, sorter time between switching gears... But what about feeling?
Just want to know - will I feel it during acceleration? :)  (I'm not saying 14 is to slow for me :) )

Do you have experience with 14?

I haven't done it on mine as I'm happy as is due to mostly motorway miles..
I guess for the cost of a 17T sprocket it would be worth just trying it to see if you like it or not.

I`d be keen to know how it goes :) been thinking about the same myself.

I put a 19 on mine and don't really notice much difference with acceleration but its a fair bit longer in gears meaning no gear change half way thru an intersection when pulling away from lights. it also makes speedo accuracy about 100% accurate, improves fuel economy and range and I wouldn't now go back to stock.

there is of course this spreadsheet you can download from here, which you can play with to adjust tyre sizes and sprocket ratios to "see" the impact before purchasing

Where did you find a 19T sprocket Bov?
I hunted for one a while back, with no success :confused1:

Bov, i like that idea, couple of questions. does chain length need to be changed ? bike obviously handles it ok. no harder to take off? no clearance probs as youve done it. 3k revs is now spot on 100 you think? where do i get one? thanks mate.

Have to wait few months, before I would be able to roll out. Usually only in aprill I'm starting my season :( (only because of weather conditions :) )

Dammit. The sensible bov option or the quick 17t option... decisions....
