Does anyone have any experience of fitting and using carbs on a gsx1400 .
Cheers

I recall a hard tail chop with carbs on the old place.

I saw a set that had allegedly been fitted to a 14 but we're on a 1100 katana so don't think they have the same spacing and not wanting to risk for £350

You'd need a load of other bits to run the sparks etc too wouldn't you? I'd assume the ECU would sulk if the injection kit wasn't wired up.

What's the reason? EFI is the business, why go backwards?

If you want more power, is it going backwards?
14 is restricted with too small throttle bodies for 1402cc.
You'll need bigger throttle bodies or bigger carbs or boost pressure to get over that problem.
And that older type injection, like in my K2, isn't any better than good carbs.
OK, you need also cams, head/valve jobs, exhaust system etc., but its another story..

Are you saying I should fit a turbo to my bike, now that I have the stage 1 cams....

Yoshi stage 1 cams will work with turbo, yes, but I didn't suggest that for you.
But it's up to you sir :stir:

I just happen to know where I can get a turbo .. but its the fitting costs that are the killer.
And I've no way of sneaking it past the minister for war and finance.

I have seen Keihin FCR 41 carbs on a 14.

I even think it was a Youtube vids...yep

Found:

https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DZldKcoaO-oY&ved=2ahUKEwigot2_26LqAhVDCuwKHTcRDDkQwqsBMAp6BAgCEAM&usg=AOvVaw0Uw4jNEZPhkh35SfL-vDCj

I have brought this up in the past and people here seemed to think it was shit.  I have seen talk of numbers in the 150-160hp realm with Yoshimura Cyclones, Cams and FCR41 carbs...  There is definitely power to be had, just not a lot of easy to get infomation on the process.  That youtube video is Wakabayashi-san's bike, he has a blog too where he details going back and forth between FI and Carb, the issues he had and how to trick the ECU in to not dicking out and throwing an FI error code with the carbs installed.  https://wakaban.exblog.jp/

I have also spoken to someone on the Facebook GSX1400 group that has fitted GSXR1000 K1 Throttle bodies, giving you the best of both worlds, no FI errors to work around.  Pretty sure he stated the K1 and K2 throttle bodies can be worked onto the GSX1400

EDIT: From the Suzuki GSX 1400 facbook group
"k1/k2 injection, The only one that can be converted. Exhaust is an Akra Full system and Yoshimura camshafts.
JE piston cylinder head machining. At the Moment 148ps....... Next step is a Dyno ignition, pickup, stronger clutch and the broadband lamda control, Sidewinder exhaust and probably an external fuel pump"

Just buy the turbo and be patient. It will happen.

I'm not too sure what the costs are for a turbo setup, but I do know a full set of FCR41 carbs will set you back $1000-1200 just to buy them.
GSXR TBs can at least be had secondhand.

If I had a choice I would rather stay NA, anything more then 140-160hp seems like overkill really..

Masterbates, maybe overkill, some just never happy. Im happy with my old stocker, really enjoyed todays ride. My mate is the never happy. His is supercharged, around 200bhp. Its all in pieces, looking for 300bhp. Hell get there, his whole family is power freaks, drag racers. Not allowed but wish i could post his race winning story at Bathurst. His Z1 Kawa was the fastest street Z1 over the 1/4 in the world in late 70s. Sorry Neil, will post your story, pay out on me later. https://amcn.com.au/editorial/where-are-they-now-4/

I will include a set of headers. Just remove the inside skin and all will be good for turbo.
