I'm gonna grab some heavy duty clutch springs and since I'll be in there I wonder if I'll need to /should replace clutch plates? How many kms would they normally last?
I guess I'll need a gasket too.

Clutches seem pretty bulletproof on the 14 Mike, really only needing upgrading if you fit a turbo or suchlike. I'd be very surprised if your plates needed doing (plus not cheap either!)

Why do you feel you need heavier duty springs?
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Like Barmy told "Clutches seem pretty bulletproof "
I have 142 000 km now,  49 000 km with turbo+cams+water met inj.++ and I still have original plates+heavy duty springs...
If your plates seem to be OK, you don't need to replace them. IMO.

GSXKING

Mine is still original clutch and timing chain 142,000km's and had a pretty hard life I'd only think about replacing if it slips or grabs. Cudos  :clapping: :notworthy: to Suzuki for the longevity of these incredibly versatile motorcycles. We all know why we love them so.  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

My timing chain, pistons+rings, bearings etc. are also original.
Only 2nd gear with shift forks and shift shafts are replaced.

OK cool I won't worry about plates. Cheers lads.

Yoshi cam upgrade.

Worthwhile upgrade Mike, but wouldn't say that having the few extra ponies from fitting the cams makes it a necessity.

Think my bike's done about 35000 miles since I fitted the yoshi cams.
Still running a totally standard clutch set up .no problem of any kind .
Unless your going drag racing is leave it alone and just enjoy the benefits of the extra power across the rev range .
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

If you're really keen Mike take the clutch plates out and mic them up I'll bet not much difference from new :whatever:

Why not wait and see if you have the problem first?
My clutch only slipped on wide open throttle in third or fourth at 6500 rpm and above.
I only replaced the springs.
As said, the clutch itself is pretty bullet proof.

Hooli

My clutch setup is totally original & has never been apart at 151k miles. Only about 10bhp down on Yoshi cams with my Akra & custom map, it was measured by Grumpy at 124bhp over a decade ago.
