Thats heart warming to hear Notty nice little story.    :worshippy:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Almost all travel to any Scottish island is now off, the ferries are only taking locals, deliveries etc over. No tourists etc.

It's getting rather silly, but I can't say I don't wish I was out there watching this idiocy from afar.

Well I drove through Matlock Bath in Derbyshire, a well known favourite spot for bikers to gather yesterday, and saw hundreds of bikes parked up as if it was a normal weekend with the riders all milling around together chatting, drinking etc.  :furious:
Fucking unbelievable. All obviously fully paid up members of the "it'll never happen to me" brigade.

Mind you they weren't the only ones, families were out together too, enjoying the weather as if no health crisis was affecting the world. Cretins.

Apparently it was the same there today as well.

Stay safe everyone, although it won't be easy with pillocks like this in society. Same ones who're stripping the shelves first thing in the morning no doubt.

Rant over

We have similar problems in North Wales the Cars & Caravans were flocking in yesterday as if life was normal, Carparks up in and around Snowdonia were packed with people walking the hills & villages. I think if this carries on then Boris will have no option other than to put us all on a mandatory lock-down sadly

VladTepes

People are dicks.
I reckon we are one 4G mobile network failure away from anarchy. ::)

They've just closed all clubs pubs cinemas gyms etc here too.
Cafes etc restricted to take away only.

At moment we can still go motorcycling but whether we'd be able to get anything to eat and a coffee is a question.

They've also 'closed' the borders between certain states though there's no constitutional basis to do so. In facrlt, it's more a case of enforcing 14 day isolation for arrivals. Naturally there needs to be movement for trucks etc. Not too mention here in QLD there are plenty of people live in southern qld and work in northern NSW and vice versa.

My main concern is I hope my broadband install goes ahead on  Friday coz our shitty Internet can't deal with me and the missus streaming at the same time.

First World problems.

Lockdown for us from tomorrow.
I hope they get the army to assist with security and prevent the looting of unattened business premises. I am very concerned for law and order.
Got a few projects and some work to finish so should not get bored.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Yeah Col, law n order gonna be a big prob. My world sure changed today. Wont elaborate as others much worse off than me. End result will be rich will get richer, others will just fall. Very sad days. My plan was always to get ST1 cams, Yoshi full exhaust, PC and tune. Now maybe new bar grips. Thats just life. As an extra, anyone on this site feeling a bit low because of this shit, feel free to talk. Please do, sometimes help can come from even a motor bike site. Good people on here. 👏

lawrie

Unfortunately, this affects us ALL, even though we are retired & financially OK, owe nothing, large garden to 'self-isolate' in, all our plans are also stuffed, been getting the new ( to us ) motorhome prepared all winter ready to travel the  UK again.

But since its 'all ready' I might go live in it for a few days on the drive & pretend to be someplace else!!

Can some of you guys in Oz or NZ send me some large scenery piccies that I can rig up on a tripod outside so we have a nice view to wake up to.

On a much more serious note, this has/is a gigantic wakeup call for the whole planet, & I fear that a large number of businesses will go under & I wonder where we will be in a years time.

I wish you all good luck & hope we all get through this.
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

Am I being unreasonable?

I need to get something off my chest so I thought in the light of the Coronavirus problems I would ask you...

A couple of years ago I bought a holiday chalet down in Devon. It's nothing special, all very low budget but it means the world to me and the wife. Earlier in the month we noticed we had a little damp issue and last weekend set about tackling it. We found that it was a bigger job than we had bargained for and yesterday afternoon I was forced to retreat as I had to go back to work and also needed to pick up more tools and materials. I'd resolved to take this Thursday and Friday off to go back and deal with it and as a result we left the water turned on and the fridge switched on with a little food still in it.

There has been a lot of rumblings of discontent over the last couple of days about people going off to holiday homes to self-isolate etc. and that this is not Essential Travel. I fear that in half an hour's time BoJo is going to further restrict activity and general movement in the country.

I'm still minded to travel down on Wednesday night. I'm not going for a holiday, I'm going to deal with a damp issue that will cause damage if left untreated, turn off my electricity and water before I leave (for who knows how long) and generally protect my property.

My wife and I are sharing a home together, the two of us will be alone in the car together – we can take a flask if we want to break the journey on a service area car park – and the two of us will be alone together working to sort out. I can't see that I am being a threat to anyone.

Perhaps I have got it all wrong?

Notty

I am a single man with toilet rolls would like to meet a female with hand sanitizer..... for good clean fun!🙄
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Its great to hear and see all the jokes doing the rounds, but in all honesty, we`re getting a bit p1ssed off with the whole virus thing already.

Recent downsides include not getting to see Mum yesterday, not getting to see my 90yr old step-dad in hospital last week (non-virus related, just bad luck), and my wifes forthcoming 60th is likely to be `cancelled`to all intents and purposes! Bugger it. To top it all, we`ve booked and paid for our holiday trip to Bermuda to incorporate seeing family which is a bi-annual thing, and there`s little hope of that happening now! In fact theres little hope of going anywhere in the near future. And I hate to see my wife so stressed every day - yep, you`ve guessed it, she works for the NHS, and i`m so bloody proud of her and her colleagues.

So its really a case of making the most of where we are all at.

We decided to go for a run on the `14 yesterday, only an hour round the coast and back, didn`t stop, but boy, was it good to get out on the bike again! I`m going fishing Wednesday, another passion of mine, (in total isolation I might add!!), and i`ll be getting on with some decorating over the coming days/weeks. I guess its all about making the most of time around the house & garden.

I`m kind of thinking that if total isolation from here on in is the best way to get rid of this thing, then bring it on. Lets get it over with so we can begin to rebuild `normality` again.....regardless of how long that takes and in what guise it takes.

One things for sure, we simply can`t continue like we are presently.

Good luck and nothing but the best to all you great guys out there, wherever you may be.

Nope, I don't believe you've got it wrong Pete.  You're not going to be in contact with others so logic & sense should prevail.  Go fix your place Pete, then if you're pulled up, tell 'em you're heading home.

From what I can work out, people need to isolate themselves from others to stop the transmission of the virus, now from my perspective, I'm completely isolated inside a car that's driving along.  The problem the authorities would see with that is,  us sheeple moving around (even in enclosed spaces - car) increases the chance of us interacting with someone else, hence they don't want us on the road. I reckon if you keep away from others, as in going for a walk or run is permitted, you should be allowed to do it.

Rynglieder,

Shame you`ve got no-one down in Devon who can access your chalet and deal with the water & fridge for you. The damp will keep, especially as we`re heading towards drier, warmer weather.

However, i`m thinking that at this point in time you`d be fine going, provided you do as you describe in relation to keeping yourselves to yourselves. I`d be a bit nervous about leaving it until Thursday though.....i`m guessing UK lock-down isn`t gonna be too far away. The other potential problem of course is that if your chalet is on a managed holiday type site you may find that you may not be able to access it much longer until this virus issue gets resolved. Many holiday establishments are locking down.....

I would suggest after the announcements by Boris today that its too late as lock down is now in place, at least for the next 3 weeks.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

KiwiCol

We're on lock down too - as of Midnight tomorrow.  They say 4 weeks minimum for us, think it'll probably go for 5-6 myself, so, 3 weeks with a population of the UK, I think he'd be being very optimistic at 3 weeks.  You'd better bargin on 4-5 at least I'd say.
