Personally, I no longer do hundreds of miles touring, I just require the convenience of a small carrier to alleviate the need for slinging a bag on my back for an overnighter, or similar.
That's me to a Tee

I can't understand why anyone would want to put a ton of weight up in a top box or bag, thats why I have the large Givi panniers.

I can't understand why anyone would put a ton of weight on the seat behind the rider and call it a pillion or wife. My bag doesn't talk back either.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Briliant work Snapey, way out of my ability. My Ventura has worked for me, just somewhere to stuff weekend clothes for both, carry that Bunnings purchase home, box of beer from pub. I will now add extra struts after reading posts.

I think they will handle the permitted/advised load, the problem is people overload them. I only use the top box for the missus handbag and waterproof gear, its generally only on for her because she like that armchair feel with the panniers. Small journeys on my own I throw on the tank bag.

Maybe Snapey ill show my wife your post. see what she has to say. Her ton of weight, 42kg, she doesnt answer back, just talks sense. She is also my wife and on seat behind me a pillion rider. Each to their own.

Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Bought a decent magnetic tank bag from the Aldi one time on a whim.

80 bucks.

Fits nicely, doesnt get in the way, is waterproof and holds a lot of stuff, all wet weather gear and so on.

On the back i have an older ventura rack that i occy strap a backpack to. Works well for me.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

My pillion read the post, I heard "That's going to hurt" lol

Blimey, if i`d known that my original question about the colour of a rear carrier could eventually lead to potential divorce i wouldn`t have asked. Sorry fellas......

.....i`m just going to weigh my wife, to be on the safe side  :happy1:

Update : I took the plunge and invested in a Renntec carrier, whats more, I opted for the chrome finish.

I`ve had several Renntec products previously, and just like those, the rack is superb quality. It suits the bike perfectly, is the right size for what we need, and I can vouch for its strength having recently overloaded it and ridden 250+ miles !
