Cool, my error.  Thought the K7's has more white on the tank, maybe that's the FE's.  No worries.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Welcome to the forum Nik  :onya: glad to see you've chosen the correct colour  :whistling:
I fitted one of these and it works perfectly, just plug it in.  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Gear-Indicator-Red-LED-6-Speed-For-Suzuki-EFI-GSX-R1000-GSX1400/183153568217?hash=item2aa4cda9d9:g:IDsAAOSw5T9aveJZ

Hi MJ, thanks for the link, good price for sure, might get one and then take my time saving for the one that comes with the TRE.

Thanks again for the nice welcome everyone.
The fun begins today, I have the forks off for new seals and bushes, I don't think they have been off the bike from new so after new everything that'll be a good start. I notice the disc pads are all but spent. I need to sand and polish the fork bottoms as the plastic coating is all "forked" up on the leading edges of both. Figure I'll take the tank off n see what's what with the pair system, check plugs, I notice the front tyre is a 2016 so the bike hasn't don'e a lot in 4 years. Probably sync the TBs, I have gauges. The rubber brake hoses look like they need retiring. New brake and clutch fluid.
So a lot to do before I can feel good about the bike. It looks good but I think it will be happy I bought it just in time.
Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome Nic,
Z900 would be nice, I miss my old CB750.

I know a few people here have them fitted but I don't quite understand the need for a gear selector, the 14 will pull in most gears if you need it to pull harder you click down a gear.

Cheers,
Rick

Welcome Nic good to have you along.
Am of the same mind as RickC re gear indicator. Reckon if its doing 3000 rpm and showning 100 kph its in top gear. Even with 55 profile tyre thats still my rule of thumb.
Anyhoo.... enjoy getting your bike how you like it Nic.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I'm ok with 5 gears but with 6 I just lose track, plus is the ATRE not worth having either?

Welcome Nic  :onya: A nice looking `14 you`ve got there - and great that you`ve kept your `Z` too!

I woudn`t bother with a gear indicator if I were you. I`ve only ever owned one bike with one, (GT750A), and I don`t recall ever looking at it!

Incidentally, I owned a Bandit `12 too, a K3. I`d be interested in your thoughts in comparing the two bikes.....enjoy your `14.

Safe riding

Hi DP, yes well, the price of the gear ind means I won't be getting one soon, it's costing me plenty getting this 14 up to scratch as it is.
The bandit, not sure if you had the 1200 or the 1250 and what are the real differences between the two anyway but there's no doubt my old K7 1250 went quite a bit harder than the 14, now I'm not sure if my 14 is going as it should but that's about all I can say comparing the two so far, I haven't ridden the 14 much, I just got back from Qbn with the new tyres but won't be able to ride it until I have the forks done, sanding and polishing, I've done eons of it on the old Honda and Z and now I'm back at it again, it's pain staking work, I have one fork lower finished, when the other is done then I'll dismantle the forks and overhaul them, don't even know what springs are in there.
The fact that the bike should now lean nicely into corners with the new tyres is something I'm looking forward to. Oh, one other comparison, the 14 is way quieter in the wind noise dept, way better, I'm thinking right now that I'll be keeping the 14, it's plenty powerful for me and it looks good too.
I don't know why manufacturers continue to worry about wind tunnels n shit, why not make some nice looking bikes, the way it is now with the coppas n their ability to take your licence even before you see them, why is high speed stability such an important issue, why not make a few great looking bikes, I still reckon the Z is one of the best looking bikes ever made. Here's mine.
