                  Hi

My other bike has an Aftermarket air filter, aftermarket end can and a power commander fitted.
I understand this was all set up on a dyno when fitted.

                  My questions :

                                         1.  If i refit the above items with OEM air filter and exhaust and at some stage remove the power commander unit do i need to get the engine re-tuned ? or will it automatically reset to it's default settings?

                                          2. Does a power commander simply plug/play into the existing loom or require splicing with additional connectors etc ?

                                          Thanks in advance.

The Power Commander plugs in under the LH side panel, it joins to two grey multiplugs. Just unplug it & put the two connectors on the bike back together. The only other connection is an earth lead to the battery.

You'll then be running on the original ECU with it's original settings.

What age bike is it? K2-K4 tended to run rich, so even if you take the bits off a downloaded map for a standard engine is likely to give you better MPG and slightly better running. K5 onwards tend to be lean so again a downloaded map often improves things.

You can download maps from the Power Commander website. Instructions for installing them are on there, if you've got a custom map already I'd save it onto your laptop before changing it. It's all straight forward to follow.

If your bike was dyno'd then the map in the power commander will be a custom bespoke map for your bike,
rather than a generic map for a gsx1400 with your set up .

If you ever put the bike back to standard just unplug the power commander and remove it or remap with a generic map for s standard bike (as @Hooli says it'll run a bit better and be better on fuel) remember to save the custom map .
The power commander itself will have what ever map is put in it untill it's changed they don't reset to a default setting .
@Hooli has already said about plug and play and extra wires (Only an earth) they come new blank without an map installed so need a map before they make any difference to how the bike runs .

Good luck

only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too
