Racked up near 4,000km since I've been using the 14.
I'm averaging about 7.0L/100km high 30's UK mpg.
About 140-150km I do a day . 90% open road.
Try to keep the speed at about 120-140kmh. :clapping:
Tried easing of the throttle to about 100kmh but only getting marginally better , 6.8L/100km.
Does this mileage sound about right ?
From previous thread I see people getting high 40's mpg  :frustrated:

KiwiCol

Yep, at those speeds it would be.

My fuel consumption is something between 5.5 to 8.5 L/100 km, normally 6.0 to 6.5 L/100 km.
14 has high air resistance and injection from stone age, so it's sensitive for higher speeds.

@Suzuki boi
Its a little high if your sitting at a constant speed but if you slowing down/speeding up and changing gear often then it's not to bad .
:wheelie:
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

I don't care what mpg I get - ride it like its stolen or like a Volvo driver - just enjoy  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

@seth
Id be at that speed fairly constant the whole way.
Bar when I meet someone slower and need to slow down and overtake.
The bike will sit at 4k rpm in 6th gear most of the way.
It's extremely rare that I'd go over 5k revs at any time.
Usually shift at about 4k rpm so no harsh acceleration.
Just wanted to see what you guys were getting and see if it's my right hands fault or something with the bike :stir:

If it was my weekend blast bike I'd think the same :clapping:
But as its my commuter I got to look and notice these kind of things :cry2:

grog

5.5 to 6.5 always. Normal day to day, just me below 6.

Speedy1959

I typically get around 55mpg or just over 12 miles per litre.
If I'm with nob head mates then the worst I've ever seen was 46mpg

Sophie isn't a high maintenance wench !

Blubber

A drive of 300km with various speeds is usually a refill of 18.5 to 21.0 liters .

Yours isn't to far off.

I mention 300km because it's 75km commuting for me. I fuel up at 300km.

Mister Fishfinger

It does sound a bit high. I get between 45 and 50mpg, which is between 6.2 and 5.6 l/100km.

Another way of looking at it, 180 to 200 miles on a tank (290 to 320km).

Same kind of riding, I don't spend a lot of time over 4000rpm, just the odd burst for fun. I think it's a surprisingly economical bike considering the size and weight (also considering it has the aerodynamics of the Cutty Sark).

Completely standard K5 by the way, with the Yoshi can.

Tally

My k7 is almost identical mileage @ mr fishfinger. Stock bike with a remus end can, not bad for a big bike and 17&1/2 stone sat on it. :imrgreen:

When I use 8 L/100 km, I have really fun. Busas and ZZR:s are not so fast they believe

Reading most of the comments here ,it seems my Suzuki is quite a thirsty big fecker.
I wouldn't mind but it should be running pretty efficiently ,new air filter, injectors professionally cleaned, throttle position sensor set,new plugs(iridium tho).  will take the plugs out at some stage and see if they can give me an indicator to what's going on
And jaysus 55mpg was gotten???
I got that on my old deauville!!

Irish in Oz

I get about 18/litre but the 1200s about 16/litre.
