Never seen a topcase mounted like that. Should make for better handling and the case can probably handle a heavier load.

A few mates here do something similar.
They normaly buy a spare pillion seat and bolt a box onto it.
When they don't want the box, or they are on a trip and arrive at the hotel/ motel
one turn of the key and it's off and they refit the single seat cowl.

I've seen it a few times. There is a rack system with bags that does similar too, I can't recall the make though.

Is it Ventura Hooli, sure the bag can slot on back to front if no pillion

Needs must !!! bought givi box and mount plate, £20 gumtree and some 0.120" 7075T3 Alloy from work scrap bin. Used old solo seat quick realease lock  plate. Luggage for under £50 . I'm kinda one of those people who don't conform or do it the easy way! :lol:.
Simple easy cheap solutions to biking luggage! Rather than my friends full ally branded stuff. All my kit was dry and easy to mount. Bob on bike handled spot on too loaded fully fueled. Even managed some Italian 100Ron fuel she loved that being high comp!
Not quite Avgas 100LL but good stuff.

Did you modify your suspension?
I haven't seen that before on a 1400.

Have a wee look at the top post Speedy, might explain the different look.  :onya:

It's a 14 motor in a GSXR frame which is what makes it really special.

I've measured up my aircooled and oilcooler Suzuki's and the 14 engine is physically wider. Swapping various air and oil cooled motors from 600's and 750's up to 1100's and 12's is do-able but putting the 14 lump into any of the GS / GSX / GSF / GSXR frames isnt easy.

A guy near me has a 14 motor in an early 80's GSX1100ET/EX, and apart from this one, from memory there's a 14 lump in a Z650 in the UK. It's not a popular conversion as the 14 isn't easy to find big horsepower from and it normaly seems to need the lower frame rails cutting and widening.

I love bikes like this and I'm really impressed with it.  :onya:

Getting a 14 to fit is indeed a lot of work but doable.

Here is a pic of mine. ..so you can add one to your list Tony  :imrgreen:

ATM it is running and have done a few simple commuting runs.

I need to iron out a few niggles before i go 1700cc  :mwink:;

- front discs are warped ( yes bobbins are free )
- wont pull cleanly above 5000rpm and
- is a PITA to start. Will replace the fuel pump and hopefully solve 1 of these 2 fuel related items.  ( AFR below 5.000rpm is good )

@Blubber
Looking great you've been a busy boy .
I'm sure you'll smooth out the hiccups and have it running nicely soon.
