Fitted these a few months ago and they looked good - however as you can see from the pics they have discoloured so sent off an email to Hel  :bugga:
Hi Geoff,
Apologies for the discolouration of your brake line.
When the hose is made it is pressure tested using water. It appears in these unusual cases the water has got trapped between the braid and PVC cover.
The braid is stainless steel, but there are many different grades of stainless. Most grades of stainless contain small amounts of Iron and Nickel. The small amount of Iron content can cause your line to discolour, essentially it's rust that could be wiped off if you were to remove the outer coating. Although, this might be unsightly, it's perfectly safe.
We will cover this defect with your warranty and send you a replacement ASAP.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

so new lines on their way  :)
The older I get the better I was

Anytime I hear of someone having an issue with Hel lines, I hear a story of great customer service to rectify the issue.

Sweaty

That's a Hel of a good result Notty  :smile2:

That's great. Was reading last night thst Goodrige use  zinc plated steel fittings as standard, but you can ask for stainless steel fittings.however I could not see what that option would add to the price.

The HEL lines use stainless fittings as standard, so that's a plus, great customer service as per above is another plus.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Will you be sticking with the clear option or getting a colour ? :whatever: :whatever:

Go the titanium fittings if you can afford it, they never fade or go dull.  :clapping: :clapping:

I like the the black or "carboline", on this bike.  used to have the gold on my Daytona that matched the USD fork staunchions and brake/clutch levers

+1 from me on the HEL lines. Rear brake line, clutch line and three front brake lines. My first mod.

Arranged for the 'Carbon Look' color and the chrome ends and banjos all look sweet.   :onya:

Nice, the banjos would be stainless.  Did you go for the 3 line front brake kit or the 2 line "race" kit (I.e. two lines direct from the master cylinder to each caliper)?

Oops forgot issues, didn't look at the photo close enough, there's only in line coming out of the master....

In this case transparent coating was advantageous. On my black ones I wouldn't notice.

HEL kind of explained where the stains came from. The question for me is where exactly entered the water. Was it pressed between the SS and the coating or did it leak through tiny holes in the inner coating? If it is the latter then this would be a bad thing!

Something HEL would need to investigate and talk to their supplier about!

I think the lines I fitted to my Bandit were Hel with clear covers the same as yours Notty..Mine have done the same, but they were fitted about 10 years ago.

When I changed the lines on my GSX1400 I used Wezmoto lines with "carbolook" sleeving..Perfect after several years and no visible discolouration.
With Wezmoto you can choose sleeve colour and also banjo colour. Real good quality items and not silly ££'s either.
