I've recently put Angels on my 14, GT rear & ST front.

I much prefer how the bike is riding & feeling to PR4s, but I did do some other work on it which will affect things. I'm pretty sure though it's not felt this good since running Storm STs years ago.

Dunlop Road Smart 3 was already waiting, and I was going to change it next monday, just after one year with Angel GT (10.6.2018)
Now I've had Michelin Pilot Road 2, PR 3, PR 4, PR 4 GT and Angel GT during my 72514 km (136248 km total).
Now I try Dunlop.
Some calculations:
Five tyres / 72514 km makes 14503 km / tyre in my use.
Angel GT lasted 14680 km and died 3 days before change. Not much better than average.
Angel GT and PR 4 GT (16000 km) are two best tyres what I know so far.

I'm running S21's on another bike and they are easily beyond there I'm willing to push them at the moment. 46 & 48 degree lean scrubbing them in. I'm keen to try the new S22's that are said to be longer lasting.

I'm never 100% sure how much use sticky sportsbike tyres are on big brutes like my 14, Busa and H2 SX but I feel more confident punting them through the twistys and have never had a drama.

I haven't tried the Angels but the heavy duty version is questionable as I run sticky tyres on heavier bikes than a 14, unless your getting better mileage from them.

Now we are talking dual compound against triple.

I did like the Angels but have changed to Metzeller
The Metzeller Roadtec was similar to Angel with the compounds. I got 12000km from roadtec over 12 months. I changed jobs so not commuting as much on flat and wore out sides on the twisties . Ended up with tyre like pyramid- not very comfortable.
Recently changed to sportec and don't expect to get as much mileage but much much better than gt in corners - so much more confidence
The real fast guys here are using Racetec which are softer and stickier again.
I think for touring would be toss up between the Metzeller & Angel.

Why are you not using Racetec then  :stir:

Now that brings back memories. We used to pay a fortune for that shape tyre in the '70's.

Who remembers using Dunlop KR96 race tyres?
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Was it the Dunlop tt100 that you fitted one way round on the front (it wore pointed) and the other way round (it wore square) on the rear?
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

I remember the TT100
I used to use Avon Roadrunners by default.

It might have been the avon's that were duel fittable but I can't remember it was a long time ago.

Never heard that one Seth and I can't remember if they were directional for that to happen.

We used them on a CB750 in the 1st Castrol 6 hour in 1970 although I think they were K81's then. The triangles got too expensive on the race bikes at a set every meeting & the K81/TT100's were almost as good so I ended up using them at a set every 4 or 5 meetings.

KR96 on front and TT100 on back.

gsxbarmy

I used to have TT100's on my bikes back then - "upgraded" them to the Dunlop Red Arrows which were out for a while on my GT750 - but preferred the TT100's for their handling.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
