Spent bloody years searching for one of these, & said the last resto would be it, but THIS one definitely IS the last, expensive as well, AND, this makes the collection up to 10 bikes!!
Its 99.9 % complete, pretty scabby close-up,  going to enjoy this one.
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

My old man had a 1936 bmw 650 sidecar.
I never got to see it .
I'll watch this build/rebuild with great interest

Its a 1959 BMW R-50, 498cc, I missed this one 6 months ago & I was well miffed, the guy 'had a go' at a resto, but had too much on so gave me first refusal, I took all of 2 seconds to say YES, BUT he managed to put an extra 2 grand on what he paid for it!!
But I know full well that many others would cough up the dosh, so I had to be quick, as they're like rocking horse shit!!
A lovely pic of the 'filler' & brush-paint super gloss finish, & its the same all over! ???
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

Good grief Lawrie, fantastic set of photos showing what you have achieved, mate I know you are a genius in doing these restores, but on this one - well I really take my hat off to you, most people would have just scrapped that one given the condition, but what you have done - respect, in total awe.  :notworthy: :notworthy:

Looking forward to the final photos with the engine back in  :onya:
