Notty - I was in in a similar position a couple of weeks ago. Mrs Brush gave me a bollocking. Told me to get the 14 out. I'm sat in the sun having a cuppa. Ex colleague passes. He stops for a chat. 8 years older than me. Still working. I took  Early retirement  at 55. He has Leukaemia. Looked dreadful. Talk about bring me to my senses...

Tomorrow 38 years ago I bought my first bike. A dog shit brown Honda CB100n. Tomorrow I'm going back to the same site (different dealer) and buying another new bike. My last. I want something a little lighter. 14 is staying. As missus said "If you think I'm going on the back of that thing, you've got another thing coming". I'll only go on the 1400!!

Soon as the weather picks up you'll feel a little more positive.

:cruisin:

Love to Col, lovely bit of NZ to drive around, but may take me a few days to "pop round" mind  :whistling:

I'm the same - my get up and go - gets up and goes off at a tangent. Sooner or later the nice weather will arrive...

Plus I'm treating myself to a new bike tomorrow. I fancy a little change. 14 is staying though...

What new bike?
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Some one said take up golf, thats a great option. Love my golf but always love my riding. I ride whenever i can, i play golf whenever i can. They both fit together. I still have mates i rode with 45 yrs ago, they still ride. To me, i just cant stop, we obviously have better weather. Summer is a problem, too hot. Just sitting in shed , a few beers, adjusting, looking, polishing, Give it a go Notty. Shed therapy is brilliant, even if you need to go for another 6 pack.

Kiwifruit

Had a friend who owned race cars. The cars won 3 NZ titles over the time he owned them. He never drove them, his younger brother did.
Those cars were state of the art and were lovingly cleaned, maintained and polished every week of the season.
Maybe you just need to find someone to ride it for you Notty !!

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I know the feeling Notty. I commute on my bike all the time so have no inclination to ride for pleasure at all now..Commuting has killed the need to ride.
My Bandit hasn't been touched or ridden since last Summer :furious:

That's such a shame. I've been resisting the urge to commute on the GSX14. All my mates at work are hassling me to bring it in because they haven't seen it yet but I always take the scooter to work in the morning. The GSX14 is too much fun for pleasure riding.

This was my ride last Sunday: https://goo.gl/maps/SDb13iZtpgp

Weather was gorgeous. Sunny but crisp in the hills. And the roads were almost completely dry. Heaven!

Mister Fishfinger

There's an advert for a betting company which ends with "when the fun stops, stop".

Good advice really. There's no point forcing yourself out on the bike when you don't want to be there. But sometimes your mojo can come back just as suddenly as it left. It just happens.

gsxbarmy

Well it was a sunny day and I decided to get the bike out - first time since October. 220 miles of country roads in glorious sunshine. Ahhhh - the excitement is back!

@Notty - get out on a sunny day, no set route, just ride a few country roads for a couple of hours. If you get your mojo back then, you are sorted, if not, then maybe you are ready to call time. Shame if you are, but eventually we all will have to.

Well done Barmy, urge back.

VladTepes

Notty if I ever have a few weeks away form the bike, for whatever reason, and go for a weekend ride (even if I don't feel super motivated) I QUICKLY get back into the LOVE for it...

Seriously is the cheapest form of therapy there is, and I prescribe some for you !  :)

Personally I've always believed golf courses are waste of land that could be used as a rifle range; but if you MUST golf then take grog's advice. :)

What new bike?

Suzuki SV650. Gen 3. Blue and white tho. Well blue frame/wheels and a white tank.

Love it. 100 times lighter than the 14. Missus point blank refuses to go on it. Just put a can on. Tail tidy. Rad guard. Bobbins. Crash posts. Been in bits two days.

38 years to the day I bought my first (new) bike. SV is new too.

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

gsxbarmy

Hurrah! Nice morning for being out on the bike too Geoff, I was out pacing the back lanes as well - well away from the mad rush of nutters!
