Hey guys,
After a long internal debate about buying the akrapovic full system exhaust ($1400) Or the delkevic 4-2 exhaust ($850) on my K7 1400: I think I am going to go with the delkevic conversion.
The price and look has won out for me, and I already have a k4 left bracket; however I was curious if the full delkevic exhaust with a PC5 and tune has any performance benefits as I understand they are a larger internal diameter pipe?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this?
At the moment I have a stock setup except a D&A filter and it is strong as hell in mid and low (whoolies off the lights if I'm silly) but the dual cans look amazing, be nice if there was a bit of a performance bump too

You might get a slight performance increase with the Delkevic headers if they are single skinned, but not a great deal over and above the standard headers - the stainless headers on the K5-7 already had a slightly larger internal  bore over the chrome K2-4 headers, so they would make more of an impact or difference on the older k2-4 models than the later K5 on models. You'll also find that the Delkevic headers will bronze quite quickly being single skinned.

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Hmm that's a pity, don't find many full system dual performance exhausts for the 14.

Dan, just do your dual, thats what you want. Mine is 4 into 1, i like it. I also think a 4 into 2 sounds much better. You wont notice any power difference, 14 is not about power. They have grunt but not top end. Amazing motors i reckon.

Hiya @Dan B
Good luck with your search I would advice a remap on your pcv once your new exhaust is fitted as the fueling will be upset by the change especially higher up the rev range the bikes can run a touch lean.

On my k2 with a less restrictive exhaust system(akroprovic).
It not only ran batter with slightly more power (mostly top end where it's never really ridden)
but also was much more fuel efficient getting a lot more mpg.

Strangely when the same kit was fitted to my k6 it didn't improve the mpg though did give slightly more power and ran smoother.
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

If I had a stock 14 again, the first mods I would do would be either an Akro or Yoshi full system (Akro for grunt and oil filter access, Yoshi for howling top end gains), PC3 or 5, PAIR blanks and some dyno time.

A healthy well set up 14 set up in this spec suits me.
I wouldn't want one with twin pipes or just cans.

Each to their own.

I was always a fan of the classic Harris 4-into-1 race pipes on Old Skool Muscle, the Yoshi is probably the closest to that.

Yeah the matte black cyclone exhaust was the dream until I saw the near $2,000 price tag to get it in Aus.

Thanks for the replies
I guess it's a choice of looks and performance, which I'm no closer to deciding on

Also I love the power of the 14, and anything to open up the top end as well as the low and midrange seems like a bloody great idea, Just so expensive!

The difference between one or two can systems,Yoshi, Akra or what ever is very small. What sounds or looks best is best.

Dan B, If you want to really open up the top end you need Yosh cams. AFTER you fit a Yosh or Akra full system.
It will pull hard all the way to 9000. Possibly a bit beyond, I've never tried.
I fitted both to mine in 2011. Fantastic.
Some say you might lose mid range fitting cams. Not true. I have 100 ft/lbs and 135 bhp.

Yoshi or Akro, PC3 or 5, PAIR blanks and some dyno time is the proven and popular way to let a 14 breath and release its potential.

After that cams always seem to be next on the list.

These are all proven and popular. This gives a fun bike that go's well with no major work.

After that it's not so easy, big bores, throttle body spacing etc are do-able but not a few hours swinging spanners.

Exhausts always seem to spit owners into 2 camps. Those that want their bikes to go the best they can (Yoshi and Akro) and those that want looks and bling and noise, twin systems and end cans.

Yeah I had read in the other topics that I would need the cams and akra/yoshi exhaust to get it to going up top but I guess to sum up: delkevic exhausts provide no performance over stock for k5-7.
I will wait a little longer and save that extra $400 for the akra... missus will love that!
