just wondering, any other types of bikes you lot ridden lately, your thoughts, maybe a comparison to 14. any newies that take your eye.

Can't call it a bike but I picked up a 50 cc scooter for my mate's 15-year old son. Reduced it's speed to 25 km/h, that's what he is only allowed to ride with his license. Took a few days for him to hit a car when he disrespected the right-of-way of the can. No injuries but the scooter's "fairing" had broken in 6 places. Dad told him to bring it to a shop to get it fixed. He replied "Can't Andre fix that?" Andre did

Glad they have laws in place to ease the young ones into riding.

It's great that you are helping the youngsters get out on 2 wheels. We all had to start somewhere, but it's a lot harder to get a licence these days so they need all the encouragement they can get.

It's another 1400, so that's good.

It's a Cruiser, so that's not so good BUT it's the best cruiser going as far as I am concerned.
As you'd expect it's also a torque monster.

Photo from a few years back but I've ridden several variations since.

We have recently had an overseas company set up renting out electric scooters. They go faster than 25kph and are ridden on the footpath.......The injury toll is mounting
Safer on a motorcycle !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Not to mention, no license required, no helmet or protective gear no insurance & no ACC premium.  They're having accidents & think there's been 2 deaths as well. But who's paying for the medical bills?  NOT the riders, it's coming from ACC levies on other transport modes.  Bikes pay HUGE ACC premiums & we wear safety gear & have a license to say we know how to ride it, these people on scooters are getting a 'free ride' so to speak.  Damn unfair if ya ask me.

Plus, if I have 2 bikes, I pay double the ACC premiums, if I have 3, I pay triple etc etc, when I can only ride 1 at a time!  Should be the person being covered / paid for, not the bike.

Rant over - nearly - it's Friday, so let it go.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

We did a trip to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia in October and got to ride 4 or 5 different scooters - we quite adequately kept up with traffic on the Yam 155. They aren't as bad as some make them out to be - although I had it scraping a lot on our way around the Samoeng Loop! Did have to pay the local police a 'riding fee' in Chiang Mai though.

I hired a Suzuki SV650X a few months back and rode it for 8 days/1,600kms in the mountains of Japan. I found it a good fit for the small and tight roads we were riding. That muffler is hideous though.

@ mt.b   Do they hire riding gear too ?

Great pics by the way.

Thanks mate. I could have taken a thousand more but the riding was just too awesome to keep stopping for pictures.

Thanks so much for the link.  :onya:
We in Tokyo soon for a week. Might be worth a look

As I've said in the other thread, only found 2 brand new bikes to pick from for my next ride.

Either a Gen-2 Busa, and throw some money at it, higher bars, full system, some luggage, dyno time etc etc. (Something I've ridden and tick's most of my requirements)

.... or the new H2-SX-SE+ that isn't here until sometime in Feb hopefully, but certainly isn't going to be cheaper than the $34,500 lower tech model it's replacing.

Not much of a short list but all that's appealing to me at the moment.

Ridden a LOT of other stuff but not much I'd want to own.

Nah, all good Gegs, we're fairly flexible & tolerant of most other makes & models - hell, even one of the admin no longer even has a 14 & another also owns a Trumpet, so ya can pretty much get away with anything as far as bikes go.  :onya:

Yeah, were flexible on whatever brand you choose. If it rides nice, just go for it. Maybe youve seen me post that im looking after my mates Ducati Diavel. Can ride it anytime i want. After 3 weeks of it, not a bike i like at all. Certainly looks unreal, pull up somewhere and always someone drooling. No one ever comments on my 14. Wont waste your time here but if anyone wants to know why i prefer an old Suxuki gsx 14, ill write it up.
