If the Swiss want to speed they come to Germany  :coffeescreen:

Kiwifruit

Interestingly having been pinged by the speed camera we continued on our journey  with reckless disregard for the speed limit.
At the weekend having got the headlight flash from the coppers l slowed down and was mindful of my speed.
Which action had the greatest effect on "road safety" ??
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

VladTepes

Yeah the Swiss are psychos about speed.  Or rather, enforcing the limits.
I think (for Citizens at least) it's based on income so the richer people pay more?

I saw an ad for a company which runs self-drive tours in supercars they rent (Ferraris, Lambos etc) and one of their tours is in Switzerland.  You gotta wonder

Another point they made about Switzerland - there are no race tracks there. Apparently there was a big accident some years ago so the government just banned all forms of motor racing.

So you can't go fast on the road and you can't even get it out of your system with a track day. As Andre said, only option is Germany.

Andre

If you think of having a "track day" on public roads in Germany is a snap, think again. 2 years of jail, a hefty fine, seizure of vehicle, loss of license.

QuoteThe tightening of the law also targets racers who do not compete against other drivers in an illegal race. ... it will also be possible to punish those who are driving "with unadapted speed and grossly ruthless and inconsiderate" "in order to achieve the highest possible speed".

More or less, the above is a matter of how the authorities interpret the situation.

Kiwifruit

In the interest of further research l thought l might try 117kph in a 100kph area.  $120 secures you confirmation that you did in fact achieve 117kph.
I have done over 50,000 km on our bike without speaking to plod.
Now it appears he only has me.in his sights.
Thought id make the most of the passing lane at the same time as plod was coming toward me. My stupid fault.
Four motorcyclists were killed on Saturday in NZ so they are cracking down on bikes he said. Fair enough.......

KiwiCol

Not again Col??  It's all them Tats, long greasy hair & gang patch that draws attention to ya!  Best ya shave, cut yer hair & dye it grey & wear respectable clothes & riding gear - then ya might be left alone.

Nope, got that wrong I think, they target you because you'll pay, not just add it to the bill like the yobbos & boy racers.

2 years & the points go, so there's a bright side.

Kiwifruit

VladTepes

Well that's better than our Qld system (as grog said). Your points offer more.... 'value'  :)

It gets to a point where it's better to have no licence for 3 months, as it all gets reset to zero after that, rather than be strung out for 2 years.  Small point accruals don't warrant it, but large accruals in 1 hit do.

Gegs

$170 and 30 points for 122kph in deepest Wairarapa last month    The wife was about to give me a hard time till I reminded here that I wasn't the one caught by the same camera TWICE ON THE SAME DAY  :happy1:

Kiwifruit

Once you crack the +20kmh over it starts getting a bit more expensive.

Nice to have that little fact on hand about your missus Gegs.

My missus has never had a ticket !!

Nothing to be proud of but who holds the record for highest speeding ticket ??
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
