Well shit, that was close. He was very lucky not to get spat off that bike.

I'm not sure what part flew off the bike. Seemed to come out the RHS. 
Undertray / belly fairing perhaps?

I watched it really slowly and it is the seat that comes off the bike - think thats why he had to stop

I was just about to say that.. It is the seat that he knocks off with his legs.
And he also doesnt make any contact with that car at all.
