Doesn't matter if you can see the speedo with that Innovv one - the blurb says "Speed and location-data are logged in each video file".
Think I best steer clear of them too!  :whistling:
I plan on living forever - so far, so good!

VladTepes

It can only log speed and location data if the GPS is enabled.

Yep they will only record what you tell them too. Avoiding using one because YOU break the law is particularly silly. All ANYONE is intereted in is the information stord refering to any incidents.
If an officer catches you speeding they cant touch your camera, its out of bounds to the law. If you make a video of yourself commiting an offense and then post it all over youtube then you are putting that evidence into the public domain and so the video can be secured for evidence and used against you.. Its simple, turn off GPS and dont show your clocks, its not rocket science..  Could mean the difference between your family knowing the truth about that twat that hit you or "Sorry officer i didnt see him he was going about 160mph in the 30.. I wasnt on my phone officer"
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

If I'm having a bit of fun on a Sunday morning and get stopped by a grumpy officer of the law, or in one of our clamp downs (lots of fatalities here) he can seize my camera if he suspects it has evidence or proof to back him up.

Maybe it doesn't show the speed but I really don't want a recording of every move I and my mates do over a few hours thanks. As I posted earlier, I have mates who ride with a strict "no go-pro" rule. You don't need to be an idiot to upset the law, unless I'm the only one on here who's not wearing a "POLITE" hi-viz vest and white crash helmet?

Personal choice. Not for me.

"In some places, such as America, police may first have to obtain a search warrant. In Australia, they don't"

As far as I know, the UK is similar if a cop thinks / assumes / believes a camera contains evidence of an illegal act.  ANY spirited ride WILL contain an illegal act.

EDIT: The above is just explaining my choice. Not after an argument. We all make our own choices, feel free to disagree, just explains how I make mine..

Same over this side Tony. They can 'if they believe' there is evidence to be had, they can, hold it, & get a search warrant, and use whatever they find, to be of benefit to them.

Thanks for helping everyone. Have decided best thing to do is buy a Harley & dash cam. Speeding wont be a problem. Maybe stopping at lights might be, overun the line and red light cam gets me, just drag my feet harder. Dash Cam should vibrate to pieces in 1/2 hr. Problem solved.

First thing the police do is confiscate the memory card, chap went to prison for two years a little while back based only on his own camera evidence.  If you are going to use one you have to be squeaky clean or you're just inviting problems, I like the idea but I don't always stick to the speed limits so do without.

This is the one thing that worries me as I commute with mine on all the time...And I don't ride slowly!!
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Not sure about your laws but here a rear cam is not quite as important as ANY rear collision is never your fault and so would never be argued.

It's rare, but I have seen exceptions.

A mate driving his truck-n-dog (gravel truck with a trailer) and was going down a hill to the traffic lights at Carindale here in Brisbane (locals will know it), lights went red, he was loaded up with 20 ton of road base but gave himself room to stop at the lights.

A car came howling up the turning lane and cut in front of him so it could go straight ahead and be first off the lights. He bulldozed it into the intersection over the lights.

The driver was ranting about being hit from behind but even the cops agreed that the car driver was at fault and although it dragged on for a while the truck driver was never charged.

Too many dipshits cut in front of trucks and expect them to stop on a dime.  :jack:

I'm pretty sure if a gard/policeman wants to do you for speeding/dangerous driving you having a cam or won't make a blind bit of difference ,he's gonna do you.
With cams like the innov how is a policeman gonna know you have one? They can be hidden and are quite small.
To me the benefits out way the negatives.
On this side I've never heard of a gard taking an action camera.
Probably different on the other side of the world tho.

VladTepes

I ride with one from time to time, particularly when commuting as I just might capture some footage which can get some idiot driver 'spoken to' or even fined regarding dangerous behaviour.

I have one on weekend rides sometimes, generally not. Mostly due to laziness.

I'd just respect what others on the ride had as their 'rules'. Makes no difference to me.

But before I can use mine again I need to get another camera mount (mine broke) and figure out a better place to mount it.

My recordings tend to be made when I'm touring rather than for accident evidence. The day will come when I am too old and haggard to lift the bike of the side stand and I want to a least be able to re-live some of the roads I have ridden and places I have visited whilst looking at a TV screen in the Old Folks Home.

The biggest frustration is the lack of battery life in most units, none of them will cover you leaving your hotel in the morning until you arrive at the next for your evening beer. Thats's why I have just purchased an Innovv C5 (single lens); purely because it can be wired into the bike's electrics and will turn its self on and off with the ignition. I just need a pocket full of micro SD cards and to remember to change them each day.

I have just been editing down the video from my trip to Norway - this was taken with a "cheapy" and whilst the video quality is not great it is the stuff it never recorded because the battery expired that is my real frustration.

I have not fitted the Innovv yet, it only arrived on Friday and its probably going to be a week or two before I find time to plumb it in and play with it. I'll let you know how it performs when I can.

Pete.

c5 has me interested. report will be good. k1 is a step up but not needed. hard wiring is a bonus. i gather a 64g card will give around 13 hrs ?

Bielie45

My son fitted the C5 to his bike, front and rear camera, not for shinanagans but as dash cam footage for idiots.
This is the closest I have my Hero3 black

Pretty close to that grog, depends how you set the camera up (1080, 720 etc) - myself for general running I use 720, gives good enough detail in case of idiots etc and uses les space, but if I want to do a video, I up it to 1080, which gives about 7 -8 hours
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
