Are you going to install that one Eric & keep the original as a known good spare?
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Eric GSX1400K3

Yes, that's the plan.  I will also check the HT leads for any issues. Starts and runs fine, just seems to use a bit more fuel than normal. need to measure it though.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Eric, how many k/litre? Mine always 18 or better. Pretty much 50mpg.

Eric GSX1400K3

Hey grog, I usually measure in l/100km>

Typically I was getting 5.4 to 5.6l/100km which is around 18.5 to 17.8 km/l or 52 to 50mpg (UK).

As I said I need to measure again, but it seems that I go from the full 5 bars to 1 bar and flashing in less than 300km on the trip meter, indicating I'm around 8.0l/100km / 12.5 km/l or 35mpg(UK).  I have done the fuel filler neck mod a long time ago, plus the HP filter bypass and LP in line filter mods too.

New STPS and TPS sensors, fresh fill of GW Syntax 3000 and HiFLo oil filter, clean and reoiled K&N air filter.  Lithium battery (SSB).  Bike starts and runs fine, fast idle works well (STVA) and no flat spots in the rev range from idle to redline.  I do sometimes get a strong fuel smell coming up from under the tank but I cannot see any fuel leaks, I am using the original EFI hose clips on the HP filter by-pass, and the proper clamp fittings on the LP in line filter.

Thinking it may be injectors worn or needing a clean, toying with the idea to chuck a new set of 4 in and get the original ones ultrasonically cleaned and see what, if any difference that makes.

G'Day Eric

In regards to fuel consumption, I have recorded mine since I have had it and it consistently gets mid to low 6lts per 100. I do have a concern that I'm getting to use all the 22lts in the tank as I find the fuel gauge gets to the last two bars and starts flashing and last fill up it took 17lts, I haven't run the bike to empty and hope I don't ever have to squeeze Bout the last drop to find a fuel station. Fuel HP filter has the mod and in line HP filter fitted. I dose the fuel with F10 each tank full. Bike runs superbly if just like a longer range before fill ups. Compared to Yammy with mid 5's

Quote from: Pommeroy on Thursday, 06 February  2025, 03:01 PMI'm a sucker for the little old red or grey Fergies, before the 135.

135 is a good cut off point for Fergies.
The older ones from the little grey TE's to the 35's etc are very collectable. Their smaller size also makes them more suitable for collectors, and they were the ones that set the Fergie's name and reputation in history.

The 135 is the start of the modern (better) stuff. Sold in huge numbers globally the 135 up to the 185 don't have the vintage / old Skool appeal but they are better suited to doing some work.

Surprisingly the 135 is getting more and more popular with collectors and restorers, not like a rose tinted TE but I guess a lot of folk spent long hours on them and love them too.

Old Skool simplicity but a better working design still in daily use around the world.

So around 5.5 l/100k.Over 400k tank normally. Its never varied over a decade.Exact same all octane petrols.Clean injectors, no need to replace, not unusual to have one leaking or bad spray pattern.

Eric GSX1400K3

Cheers, will investigate the cleaning route a bit more.  Found a matching part on RockAuto when I typed in the Suzuki part no 15710-65D00:  FJ344 from Ultra Power: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=12007269&cc=0&pt=6224&jsn=463&_nck=8LVLUxTaILBT%2BtLxkg8%2B3Ag7%2F0bbOhvn7P3rkFbL809YNOHQDmNBznFtdYfbcEUriQ0mcmy%2FTcWfcbfHTjxSwndfe2chgzy88liHO2MoAcp7wW7lek5DxawTLSg%2FDpYU6glXntEIULr3uhmpv1YTGK%2FEAEWKmfQl9mCbYuF7dz%2B24TIa73nppj7KIyT47xXG9i2KHscmJQghJV4lwZn%2Fvv0bLvk0XGi%2ByfnDhpbQJZ1ilpanrcYy3zOXu7mqpo6x4yZUAD5cJTf2Wi%2BYshSfowpGKc%2Fn70ii5pAvPUghmjk%3D

Suzuki OEM are over 300 AUD each at Mick Hone (!)  Webike Japan has them for 235USD for an assembly, but not clear if one off or 4 off.

Thanks Mick.  The mod on fuel filler neck is described on here, it allows you to utilise the full 24L tank capacity, its pretty straight forward and involves a PH screwdriver and parking the bike on the side stand, then gently punching a hole on the inside of the filler neck up near the top edge where it meets the tank at the highest point (opposite the side stand) The sheet steel is very thin and its easy to do, it doesn't damage the tank but what it does do is allow the tank to breathe much better when filling and gets you a true 24L fill.  Ive only ever once ran the tank to nearly empty, both the last bar and fuel icon were flashing, I filled close to 23L into the tank.  This was at night, on the Forrest highway below Mandurah heading down to Bunbury.  In my rush I forgot to check fuel level when I left home. Was so glad to see the fuel station.

That's 50.5mpg in old money Grog, (and for the poms)  good on ya mate, you have a gentle right hand.  Amazingly the R3GT can do the same & better with a gentle right hand as well . . .
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I often/mainly go to 1st flashing, still 100k left. Both flashing still 30k. Works very well👍

That's a good mod Eric. I've had 24L in it but have never run it out to see how far it goes on a full tank. I start looking for gas at 300kms from full. I should pay more attention next time I fill it.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I don't have the fueltank mod but if I take my time filling I get the same results (24ltrs)
From totally full I've had just over 225miles (everything was flashing by then) from fort william to ullapool via Applecross (so a big variety or roads and speeds) this was late summer last year (2024)
In the past fully loaded with camping gear ect (2 week tour of Europe) we both (2 gsx1400's 1 tubed 1 standard) have regularly got over 200 miles per full tank 😀
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too
