Received the rear shock spring compressor today..
I had to try it out of course..
Successfully removed / replaced one of the springs (just cos I could)  :)

It works BUT I am a little irked that he made the hole that goes around the collet 56mm (Collet is 51mm)..
I sent loads of photos with accurate measurements..
Yes it works but the spring almost comes through the hole and so the spring compresses in a cockeyed manor..
I might get a mate to weld a plate over the bottom with a 52mm hole...
Maybe I am being a bit OCD

Love the bars.

Greg had a problem with the bars too Jeff but they are comfortable. It had bar end mirrors as well which reminded me of the Pommie scooter crowd.

The mechanic where I bought it suggested a new set of plugs because the wrong ones were fitted. I now know why he didn't do it ... what a bastard of a job. No wonder I like the 14 so much ... tank off, replace plugs. Bandit ... even after removing the fairings you still have the frame in the way which also made a compression test almost impossible. All cylinders are almost equal at 160 so I'm happy with that.

I was told to put in a set of JR9B's so once they arrive I'll balance the carbies and see what other handlebars I have lying around.  :)
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Turn the bars around so they are lower it will make it quicker and then might keep up with a black one.

Tony Nitrous

I just ordered $90 worth of tools.

Not a supplier I've used before so fingers crossed.

Surprisingly they are stuff I haven't got but might use!

It can't be easy not having at least one of every tool known to mankind....... :smitten:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I usually say to my boss
"Just think of me as a tool"

He says "He usually does"!

I ordered a 'Bank A upper heated O2 sensor' for the XJR, that's a Lamba sensor to the rest of the world.

I checked it for codes the other day as it coughed a few times & then the throttle stopped responding. That turned out to be a dirty connector on the TPS but I also found a code for the failed lamba which explains why it does slightly worse on fuel than it should.

EBC front discs
DID heavy duty gold chain, with JT sprockets
Motobatt
Scorpion cans with link pipes
EBC HH front and rear pads
Black renthals
Black hugger
Arranged an oven for my powder coating (will take alloy wheels) 21" deep x 13" wide x 30" tall

Hooli

If you're powder coating the wheels you'll need new wheel bearings afterwards. The heat dries out the grease & they'll fail shortly after otherwise.

I'd take them out first to reduce the risk of damaging the new coating.

@Hooli

Most good powder coasters will insist bearings are removed prior to blasting and coating
They will also mask off disc seating surfaces and bolt holes.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Andre

Froudy, the crux is to find a good powder coater. Had the opportunity to test one and they failed miserably on a simple task.  :frustrated:

I bought new bearings yesterday

Hopefully decent ones..

Must admit I admire your bravery for rescuing a bike in such bad condition.
Well done you!

The only experience I have of it is an ex got her HD wheels powdercoated & they didn't mention the bearings. Cue me changing them a few months later when they failed.
