The other one that gets my blood boiling is, the morons who drive just under the speed limit on single lane roads, then as soon as the overtaking lane appears, they put their foot down to well over the speed limit, and as soon as it is back down to a single lane, you guessed it, back to under the speed limit. Drives me bloody nuts, and means you have to really speed just to get passed them.
I do a lot of driving for work and in country areas quite a bit as well, where it mainly happens.

Yep, those morons are here too.

One of my experiences also. Not so much of a drama on the 1400 but truly hair tearing in the 🚘. I've often tried to figure why they do this but have given up without ever concluding a reason for it. 👿👿
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

I hate the idiots (seemingly 80% of the population) who, on approaching a fixed speed camera immediately brake down to 10-15kph UNDER the limit to 'make sure' they don't get pinged.  Just do the actual speed limit for chrissakes!!!!  :furious:

I also hate to see people pull straight in, in front of trucks, buses and the like.
Do they not realise that if they then braked suddenly, there's every chance that 60+ tons of truck is going straight over the top (or through)  them?

That and people who don't give buses and trucks enough width to turn.  PHYSICS people !

It's like nobody has ANY common sense or logic any more.

As you may or may not know..I commute 70 miles a day, 3 times a week. M4 between Bristol and Newport in Wales.
I can be riding to work at 06.30 on a Sunday morning when the motorway is pretty much empty of traffic. So how come I can see a car about a mile ahead sitting in the middle lane, with not another vehicle to be seen...anywhere :furious: :furious:

I make a point of overtaking and then cutting right across them and back into the left lane..Sometimes as I glance in my mirrors I see them also pull across to the left..My maneuver has made them aware that they were lane hogging. Usually though they just stay in the middle

My theory whether it's right or wrong is that a lot of drivers use a satnav. The satnav will tell them to "Keep right" especially when approaching an exit that they aren't taking..Maybe that's why they stay in the middle or right lanes?

I see more of the older version of these.

They do walking speed around bends but as soon as there is a straight they boot it so you can't get past. It should be legal to ram them off the road & kick them in the face until they wake up.

KiwiCol

I know what you mean Hooli!!  We have these halfwits too!  As soon as they see at straight bit of road, they're off, as soon as the see a corner they're on the brakes, doesn't matter if it requires brakes, they're on the brakes, for no reason!.  I'd rather be in front of these drivers as ya can't tell what they're gonna do.  You can tell by the way they drive they're not real experienced at it.

I don't think it's satnavs, I think it's a much older problem than that. My theory is that because they have never had driving lessons on motorways (because learners weren't allowed on motorways in the UK until recently), they think that changing lanes is a risky procedure that should be avoided at all costs. They are also incapable of forward planning and are terrified of getting caught in the inside lane and not being able to move out when they come up behind a slower vehicle. So they pick the middle lane as a sensible compromise and they stay there.

It happened this morning of course. I came in on the M25, there's a part where the 3 lanes of the M25 are joined by 2 lanes of M3 traffic from the left. So I am in the left lane of 3, which suddenly becomes the middle lane of 5. To my left are the headcases in expensive German Panzers who are incapable of going below 85 and absolutely have to get across to the outside lane instantly, or else they'll lose their place on the squash ladder or something. In front, a mid-size truck that was is ambling along at 60 and really doesn't see the need to move over to the left now that there are 2 more lanes he can use. To my right, more sales executive Panzers trying to force their way past the middle-lane hoggers who are now 4th lane hoggers since we acquired a couple of new lanes.

My mission: to get off at the next exit where I've got 300 yards to merge left across yet another 2 lanes of faster moving traffic because I need to turn left at the exit roundabout.

Some days I would actually welcome a zombie apocalypse.

Hooli

That's why widening motorways never works, they add the lanes on the wrong side. The RH lane is all the photocopier salesmen, one lane to the left is all the slower mongs & the other lanes are just for trucks & coaches...

I don't buy the lack of training excuse, it's exactly the same as using a dual cabbageway & none of the brain dead can use the left hand lane on them either.

froudy

Something else that really winds me up is one 40 foot artic overtaking another one on a two lane section of the motorway...
They creep past at the rate of two inches per mile causing a huge queue of angry and frustrated drivers to build up behind :furious: :furious:
