For what it's worth, using my 12o'Clock labs speed corrector, my speedo & GPS are reading the same (+/- 1kph) right up to 120ish, & I'm not looking too much at the speedo if I'm still 'climbing' after that . . .

I was looking at some of their other gear today, they've got some 'flash' indicators !!

just a question, will fit one tooth bigger front sprocket next change. should make speed reading nearly correct? odometer will then need healer? will be slow, am i correct?

KiwiCol

I dunno the answer to that Grog, only way would be to record / measure distance covered on a trip using GPS (on phone if you've not got one mounted) & comparing the Odo reading, obviously, the longer the distance the better the accuracy.

Speedo healers affect the odo too, as they modify the signal before it reaches the clocks. I seem to recall Tallman looking at adjusting the speedos directly & thought it was a near impossible task as it involved reprogramming a load of chips.

Glad i read this as i didn't know about the speedo inaccuracy problem  ??? but it would explain why 80mph feels very fast  :whistling:
i intend to live for ever or die trying !!

In theory 1 extra tooth on the front sprocket will add 4 mph at 4000 rpm so up from 85 to 90 mph.

Could you work the difference out off the rev counter i think from memory at 4250 rpm mine shows 100 mph ish i.v got 18/41 but the rear wheel is 240/40/18
It feels accurate i know cameras in road works trigger at 60/67 mph 50/57 mph and 40/46 mph and 30/34mph oh yeah by the way on all smart motorways ie hard shoulder running all gantry cameras are set at 85mph now 24/7 unless the over head speed is lower then the above apply

Mick_J

Are you sure you have an 18" wheel?
A 240/40/17 is just about the same diameter as a 190/50/17 so the difference in speed will be very small.

Aye 240/40/18 mate

Do you know half your swingarm has fallen off?
