Hi All

Just wondering if there are any nerds on here like me that enjoy a bit of RC'ing I have been in to the hobby on and off for years, currently into my Tamiya's.
Gives me something to tinker with when the bike doesn't need any tinkering

I flew R/C planes for years, not since retiring to France.
If you are going to run out of fuel, do it in your garage.

It's only a short walk to the kettle.

Used to fly RC Gliders years ago, but not the time now (or any decent hills in Essex to launch from LOL)
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Bought my son a cheap 10th scale off roader for his 7th birthday. We used to go to the club nights and race on an indoor bowling green. I thought this is fun so l bought a 10th scale tamiya electric touring car. I was hopeless. Son says dad can l have a go with it......it was the last time l got to use it !!
Together we went all over the country. He  was very quick and l loved tinkering with them. Together we had so much fun.
His last car was a 10th scale Mugen gas touring car complete with 2 speed gearbox and all very adjustable shocks and suspension. That thing was a rocket. He enjoyed a lot of success in RC car racing. He won the NZ title in the Tamiya Mini class at 10 and finished 2nd in the NZ 10th scale gas class when he was 11 and 12. Now he's 27 a dad himself.
I look back very fondly at those times spent together with my young fella.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Cool story Fruit, moments like that are precious and should be cherished

I built & raced cars in the 70s, went on to r/c aircraft & choppers (always crashed the latter), designed & built my own quadcopters, I have 4 at the moment, but since 1990 I've been designing & manufacturing model boat kits!!

Still doing it although retired for 7 years!!
Oh yeah, messing about renovating old bikes as well.
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

I recall seeing pics of your model boats on the old org Lawrie.... works of art!

The LAST thing I need is another hobby to spend $ on.

I have always wanted a decent (capable) remote control model Land Rover Defender though.
Ottomans: 'Hippity hoppity, Vienna's our property"
...and then the Winged Hussars arrived.

Wow, just looked that one up, that's a serious piece of kit.

Ah, is that an old Midnight Pumpkin?

Got one of those as my first R/C car when I was a kid.

I started club racing locally with a Tamiya buggy (can't remember the name, just a basic on with a single horizontally mounted shock) which was great fun, in a local school sports hall which was a bugger of a surface - hard and slippery. I had a Kyosho models for a while (can't remember the name), but then ended up with a Schumacher Procat which I seem to remember was one of the most common ones to have in our club. It all ended when I went to University though and haven't even driven one since then.

It is yes its a proper vintage but still gets used, I don't do any racing I just like fiddling.
