Well, prepared all week for today, a day of just me and "Suzi" out on the road.

All togged up, waved goodbye to the wife promising to be home for tea. 15kms down the road, came to a junction, stopped, look left went to pull out and it stopped. Thinking I had stalled I looked at the clocks to engage neutral - no lights at all. Press start - nothing!

Climb off, push her to the side, tried off/on with the key, hey presto! Lights, press start, flicker of lights then nothing. Guessing battery connection I tried the key one more time. Lights! Press start and bingo! She runs! Quick U turn and straight home.

Wife very surprised (and anxious ) of my quick return but soon had the kettle on. A quick scan of the workshop manual (thanks to this Org.   ) and the seat, tank and under seat tray were off. As suspected, live lead only finger tight. Cleaned up both leads and terminals and thought, check every connection! Out with WD40...., then thought, everything (almost) off so why not change the air filter and plugs... as the tank is off, might as well listen to the guru's here so, clean the teabag!

Except..... No teabag! Checked the tank, no sign so ebay here I come!

Also I fitted an external filter as suggested on here 

May have a fuel sender issue, tank showed two bars, then, after the battery issue above, the clock showed one bar and flashing fuel gauge. After putting everything back on fuel pump did not run  Check wires and had not reconnected one.....  reconnect and ran fine.

Took it for a 25k run for fuel, put 10 litres in and only two bars showing? Will take it out later in the week and will fill it up (after enlarging the hole in the filler neck 😉 and see how it goes. (Promised to plant spuds tomorrow for the boss    )

Did you slide out the pump oit of the bracket?
The teabag normally resides in the bowl at the lowest part of that assembly.

Picture leaves me thinking you did not disassemble the assembly 

Could have made the wrong assumption and therefore my apologies upfront if wrong

While you are at it I would secure the clip (on pressure regulator) with stainless steel wire.

Which external filter mod did you do? There is a low pressure and a high pressure mod.

Blubber was right, just read the fuel pump article, need to take out again, unscrew and pull apart.

Good weather here for a few days, gardening duty today (damn) but riding tomorrow onwards so the filter will be next week.

Being in France, the "demonstrate against the government " is mandatory, so Saturday is "operation snail" where motorways will be reduced to a snail's pace by bikes, cars and trucks to overturn the reduced speeds on B roads from 90 to oomph due to come in force. Don't know if it come to anything but afterwards groups are having rides out so worth joining in.
