Eventually got the bking out today for a little run ,found it a tad uncomfortable after about 15/20 miles but then again I haven't rode a bike since may last year ,the power is unreal but obviously I haven't given it a serious handful due to new tyres etc.anyway I'm going to have a run out now on the 14 which will probably feel like a gold wing,

ARH

Go and wash your mouth out with soap!  Gold wing indeed.....  :rofl2:

Sweaty

No, wash your mouth out with petrol Daytona after that. How dare you say what you actually think, "in this day and age"

I loved getting a go on a mates bking so sold my old spare gsx14k6 and got one that's when the problems started .
It was great for 20-30miles but anymore and I didn't like it  as it was to uncomfortable.
So after 800 miles in 2 years it was sold on and was replaced by a nice low mileage red/black gsx1400k5
That's done 15000 miles in last 2 years.
The Bking is a crazy bike but just to uncomfortable for distance stuff.
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

It amazing how nimble the GSX1400 feels after riding the K1600.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

I think the same thing after riding my 955i tiger the 14 feels small and light and a lot more flickable .

I am glad I am not alone in feeling that the 14 is small, nimble, and comfy  :worshippy:

That's given me some food for thought!  A K1600GTL would be one of my 'dream' bikes, but just too expensive for me, can't justify it to myself let alone the Mrs!

Can you elaborate on what you mean Batkwaka?  I envisaged touring & cruising on a K1600.

Have to say though (sorry) that my Explorer is even more nimble and comfy than a 14

What sort of tyres have you got on it Dave?  Not knobbleys surely? Are the a suited for road & off road? ie, neither 1 nor the other?  Brother had a 1050 Tiger, 'combination' road tyres on it. Took it on shingle & major wipe out, bike written off & him in hospital - few years ago now though.  I did say to him about the tyres & he said nah, bike is built to handle it. . .   He's got a GS1200 now, road tyres & stays on the hard.

I don't use it much (if at all) off road, so recently fitted a set of Michelin PR4 Trails - which essentially are the same PR4's that one can fit to a 14, but with stiffer walls, so a road tyre for Adventure bikes basically. Made such a difference to grip and smoothness over the Metzler Tourance Next fitted originally (which were a kind of semi off road tyre). With the PR4's on whilst Sports Bikes may have the edge on straights, once can quite readily go round inside of them on corners (which makes them look).

I wasn't keen on the Tourance Next originally to be honest, didn't help that the front tyre was faulty and blistered and was demolished within 4,250 miles. Metzler refunded a new tyre "without admitting any liability" - mind you the same had happened to a number of others at about the same mileage, so I suspect a dodgy batch. But I won't ever use them again for sure.
