I prefer Bourbon to Scotch to be honest..Jim Beam or Jack Daniels.
Jack Daniels are getting too greedy though..I can buy 1 litre of Jim Beam White Label for £16...A litre of Jack would be about £35

Last week I picked up this little beauty for £20. It's 57% and like drinking industrial alcohol :imrgreen:

OH MY GOD i could talk for hours on this subject.... I go for regular tasting sessions at a shop called 'Hard To Find Whisky' in birmingham.. They also do a range of 'classes' to teach you all about the different kinds... Because i could go on all night, im not going to say more than this:- Try as many as you can.. older is pretty much always better with the odd exception.. You can fundamentally split it into 2 groups  bourbon cask and sherry/wine cask, one is fruity one is smoky.. find what road you prefer and follow it but always remember the other exists as there will always be one that suprises you.. Oh and never give up on whisky... there will be one you fall in love with..
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

This topic has been very enlightening.
We enjoyed a gĺass or 3 last night.  Interesting to hear some of you going to regular tastings and dont just buy a bottle and throw the cap away.
I shall take far more interest in the future.
Thanks for your comments thus far.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

You can only appreciate a proper malt for a few glasses then they start to taste the same so a full bottle is just an expensive waste
Better trying different ones to enjoy then switch to a blend for the rest if the time.

Totally agree Seth!  At 50 quid a bottle (for a 'reasonable' whisky)... a good malt should be savoured...

I've seen 50 year old Macallan fetching upwards of 25k for a bottle... eye watering money!  Some whiskys are very collectable.....

A friend of mine collects rare ones as part of his pension planning as they only go up in value as less of them all the time and they can never be remade .

Liquid gold......l would never have thought.
But l do get the savour the flavour concept rather than to over indulge.

Some call it "Hump Day", I call it "Whisky Wednesday" and unless I'm visiting friends is the only day of the week I drink alcohol.
My preferred Whisky is Glenfiddich, it seems to have a robust flavour although I normally buy Johnny Walker Black Label as it is well priced and consistent in taste. My most recent purchase is a bottle of Jack Daniels though, just to mix things up a little.
I have tried other more expensive labels but I find the price tag does not always determine the quality or taste.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.
