All i can say Dragon, wilbers springs in front end and service.progressive. Rears serviced. Total cost $800. Bike handles nice, bumps all nice. Not sure why waste money on new rear shocks.

80% of my riding is two-up with the Mrs as pillion.

With my weight of 85kg and the Mrs at around 50kg, the rear shock preload has to be at maximum of 5 rings to get the SAG right.  That is without panniers and only the small top box we have that carries a couple bottles of water, lunch and a few odds and ends.

Both shops said even with a basic rebuild on the rear shocks I would still need new springs for two-up touring with panniers and top box.

I'd rather buy new shocks.  Then when I have the OEM shocks rebuilt (basic) I can still use them for the times that I go on a tour by myself.  As again - both shops said that the new shocks being setup for two-up touring will be a little on the firm side for one-up riding.  Still ride-able, but won't be very comfortable.  I figure I have options..  if I find the new shocks over firm for one-up touring, then I'll look at rebuilding the OEM, if not, then I won't and will just keep them in the cupboard.

I've already had the front end fully serviced with all new seals etc, just need better suited fork springs.

numbskull

Also in the UK, Brooks Suspension will rebuild them at £199 a pop:

Disclaimer: I haven't used them myself but they have a good reputation.

These are now £312 EACH! That's half the cost of new OHLINS? How can they possibly justify this cost?
I emailed Brooks Suspension today and they tell me that they're no longer providing a rebuild service for the factory shocks.
