@Red Biker I soaked in the big bucket of nastiness to loosen the crud - I have a heavy duty bench grinder that I have a wire brush and a polishing mop on so clean on the wire side and burnish on the mop side - I put the pistons on socket with a short extension and this allows them to spin as I clean them

I'd avoided using the wheels as I thought it would create an uneven surface.

Been a while with a lot going on but got them painted 3 coats of gold basecoat and a light coat of clear and allowed to dry

a few people have asked how to get the raised lettering
1 - With the caliper fully dried put 2 layers of masking tape around the edges of the lettering
2 - Get a sharp scrapper and at an angle remove the paint
3 - Then with a very fine file remove any remaining paint
4 - With a section of Scotchbrite pad rub on the one direction to get even finish
5 - Lastly give a wipe with panel clean and reapply clear coat

And if youre really good you can get the paint off the lettering all in one go
