Yeah mate, had to wait for an hour & a half for the others though.

Had a bloody fantastic ride from Westport to Karamea, for a big girl, man can she dance!  Probably more than I can keep up with. Twisties, Hills & Hairpins, she took 'em all in her stride & was quite happy to be let loose on the straight flats.
Awesome day, awesome ride & awesome bike!!  Some more pics later, phone is charging, beer o'clock I reckon.  cheers all.

Well, today started out good, but things took a turn for the worse on the down hill section of the Denniston mine. Was sml shingle on road repairs, which I found on the way up, with a big loose n re-gather. So, I tell myself I'll be very careful on way down, n I was, but she still lowsided me on one of the corners. I hit the road quite hard n bike slid along n over the edge! I was doing maybe 20k (if that) n she still tucked me.
Bike went down about 12' over the edge into bush.
Managed to get her back to the road with a passing 4wd n rope n the guys holding her up.
She's not too good, but rideable. I rode her back to Westport n the shoulder is buggered. Reckon it's broken as there's sticky up bits now where there weren't any before. Hip is bruised too.
Westport hospital are too busy to see me, so got themes coming to collect me n the bike n take us home and me to the hospital.

First impressions of what's busted / damaged, screen, rad guard, brake pedal, tank, rear indicators, carbon can and link pipe, belly pan, rear molding by seat, handle bars stuffed. Just from what I can recall.

Here's some pics of it.

The poor girl. Hope it's not her last ride. She stops ok n discs aren't buckled. Forks seem ok too as does rear. Rides ok apart from the bent handle bars n bent brake lever.
Won't know till they go over her back in chch. Got ins, n I'll mend, but may take a while for a shoulder n hip.
Was going to ride her back home slowly, but then figured I need full control else I'll be in even more hurt with the bike and me! Hence I'm getting collected again.
What a bummer! Had a goodly concoction of pills now as pain and stiffness is increasing.
Will go see the hospital as soon as I  get back to town.

I'm very sorry to read this Col. Can only hope you're injured shoulder is not too bad.
Guess you were on the way down from the mine site. That road is pretty steep.
Hope you get the bike fixed fast..... and yourself even faster.
Usual story Col if I can be of assistance in anyway please just ask.

That's real bad luck Col, and so sorry to hear - but at least you are ok (relatively speaking) and your 14 can be fixed. Shame as was such a good road trip you were having.

Hope your shoulder is ok, first thing is to get you sorted.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
