Hi
I like the look of standard cans but they are a bit too quiet for me.
So I started modifying my original exhaust.
Lots of information and help I found on http://www.gsx-1400-forum.de  :clapping:

I bought spare exhausts because I did not want to drill my own, in case that something will go wrong.

I start by removing the rivets from the back plate.

Then I drill the can wall (I used a 44mm hole saw)

About 13cm deeper is the next wall.
Put a piece of rod and bend the exhaust inset there and back, up and down until the weld breaks.
(this work lasts forever)

Remove can inset.

I'm going to use a 45mm stainless steel tube to make a new muffler tip.

I have cut tube (40mm) and perforated tube (80mm) and weld together.

Ready tube weld into can.

I have enlarged the back plate hole to fit the 45mm tube. Three rivets and back plate come back to the place.

Hi
"I like the look of standard cans"

These are the words I thought I'd never see! I tip my hat to you Jacog for coming out in public  :hat:
Maybe the forum is programmed not to show offensive images  :whistling:

Cheers

Good pictures. Maybe you can test the sound in "step one", before you continue? It would be nice to know.

Nice mod.
I actually like the twin standard silencers.

Nice work. Looks perfect. How is the sound?

Great work - I was thinking of getting a bazooka and doing that for my K 5 - yes I would love to convert to twin but then wouldn't get the bike down the side of the house into the garage !  :smile2:
The older I get the better I was

Did same mod to mine... thanks man, wasn't sure about doing it untill I saw your post! Sound is brutal! Only diference is that I used 42.5 mm stainless steel tube. Thank you!
