Down the bottom of the main page is a section called Stats & it shows you who's online. There is a new guy here called 'reasonable' Jeremy from NZ, I see he's online, so thought I'd say hi.

We get to vote to send them all home this Saturday.

Oh, Election day...... now where's my dartboard and blindfold.

C'mon Jeremy...... you can come out.......
were all friendly here  :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

reasonable

Yeah hi guys , thanks for the welcome and hello .
You got me
Looks like a real friendly forum just like Stromtroopers

I'm considering a bike listed on Trade Me just around the corner so trying to get all the info to make a decision .
Currently riding a heavily farkled V-Strom DL650 eg electronic cruise control , braided front brakes , barkbusters , risers , gps mount , crash protection , full givi set up , speedohealer etc
The DL goes well but is it just me but I find it a boring .
Went for a test ride on a GSX1400 yesterday and though my biggest bike was a Bol Dor 900 many moons ago I friggen liked the GSX
Got to decide whether to trade down - take a big hit , ouch

Kiwifruit

Hi Jeremy, welcome.
Which one on Trade Me and where is home?
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Hi Kiwifruit , the expensive one $8999 with 38,000 kms .
Took it for a run and its like wearing an old pair of boots - so comfortable .
I got back into biking a couple of years ago after 25 year gap after selling the boat . Wanted to ease back in so got a 650 KLR , didn't like the single cylinder for road so switched over to a twin .
I just miss the power and don't like the styling of a lot of the modern bikes .
Anyone know anything about the history of the one in Petone ?
Apparently the previous owner had an illness & had to let it go

KiwiCol

Hi Jeremy, welcome to the club. At 38k, we'd all be very surprised if there were any major mechanical issues with it. These engines are almost bullet proof. They'll do 150-200,000k no problem. Highest I've heard of was just shy if 300,000k n she let go.

reasonable Jeremy.

While I can't comment on the value, not knowing much about NZ bike prices, I am very confident that if you get a GSX1400 you will NOT be sorry.

My GSX1400 was my first bike after a similar break from riding :)

Can you transfer the cruise control mount from the strom?
maybe even the barkbusters?

You may miss the cruise control, but that'd be about it.

The 1400will compensate with performance and TORQUE. and TORQUE and did I mention  TORQUE ?!

TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE
TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE   TORQUE

Thanks guys ... yeah torque is where its at .
Just got to wait on the sales pitch cos I've invested heaps in the V-strom & know it'll be a big loss .
I'm just asking myself ' why didn't I consider the GSX1400 to start with ' wouldva saved a lot of hassles .
I reckon the reason is 1400cc , whoa why would I even go there .
But after yesterdays ride I see these bikes are like big pussycats

Kiwifruit

If you are thinking of touring...... because they are great for that, beware the Givi racks are not easy to get as they stopped making them some time ago.
The 1400 is well respected as a good bike. I have come across guys who had them and wish they never sold them.

And your last line...... very true, no claws till you upset them.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Sweaty

Hi Jeremy & welcome aboard. $9000 sounds a bit UN Reasonable  to me, but i believe the prices are higher across the ditch.

T 24

Hi Jeremy and welcome. Best things of GSX 1400 are the bullet proof engine and good torque.
