Random Engine Cut Out?

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to trouble shoot an issue with my Fathers GSX1400.

It has an intermittent fault which can occur anytime, anywhere - at idle, at cruise, under load etc.

The engine will either misfire / stutter, like the ignition has temporarily cut out, or the engine will completely cut out and stall. It's a really frustrating one as it is so intermittent that it is impossible to make changes and know if they have had any effect. It's been to a couple of mechanics and they are all left scratching their heads.

One thing I know hasn't been looked at is the side stand switch, which I will inspect tomorrow.

Is there any other areas I should be checking or has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Thanks

seth

check fuel filters
there are threads on here on what to check and how to do it .

You could also clean the clutch switch and squirt some contact cleaner around the kill switch.

Although I agree with Seth, probably the fuel filter needs a clean - look at the stickies in the Fueling section, in particular this thread

I think you have an electrical issue but maybe the pressure relief valve clip has dislodged. Similar symptoms to mine from a couple of weeks ago.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.
