I remember a couple of years back on the old forum there was talk of Bluebird being resurrected. I was there at recent trials about 2 weeks ago.

Snapey

That's a bit different to your timber skiff Jeff with the Q Dodge.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Pete if I put the Dodge in the Skiff it would probably sink, it runs a 186.

At first, sorry about bad quality of the picture. Its over 30 years old and taken with a pocket camera.
We used to keep speed competitions for fishing boats ( shaft driven double enders ).
This was our "racer" Keppana.
17 ft fishing boat with 180 hp Volvo B20 rallycross engine and home made surface propeller propulsion ( cleaver ).
Its maximum speed was over 50 knots and 7600 rpm.

Cool,  had a b20 with high compression Mahle pistons and double barrelled webers in my volvo 123gt '67 - amazon.  Hauled ass even to today's standards.

@Blubber. That B20 is now in my sons Volvo 142 ´69, originally it was from my ´68 Amazon.
It has 11:1 compressions with ported B20E top, 44/37.5 valves, double Porche valve springs with aluminiun retainers, B30 pushrods, steel timing gears, Timos Motor (=Kormu) "828/107" camshaft, Timos rocker arm shaft, lightened, balanced, "083"distributor, double DHLA 45 Dellortos, etc... Runs great. Revs to 8000rpm. It was fast in eighties.

Kiwifruit

You guys must have some very fast fish up there .........
Most people here troll between 4-12 knots  :whistling:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I suppose a similar motor to the B20 only with 2 extra cylinder, not much tuning done to this revs to about 6250 with a 20 percent ratio box so about 7500 out the back end.

Last weekend I visited in my old workplace. The red picture is taken from lighthouse trough the red sector.
"power boat" in this case means 1000 hp diesels per boat.

lawrie

My turn,
This is actually MY boat,  honest!!
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

grog

Never ever owned a boat, thats what mates are for, borrow theirs. If i ever decided to own one, yours is it Lawrie. Its beautiful, know nothing about them  but it sure looks good and expensive.

IanH

They say the two best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and they day you sell it.
I can confirm this saying is true

ARH

Laurie.... I bet your boat would go faster if it was blue and white   :rofl2: :rofl2: :happy1:
