So... what a fun couple of months i have had with my 14... On the 27th of April i dropped off my baby at RRP in meriden to have a PC III fited.. Now bare in mind that my bike is a 1550 so it should tune nicely...

I have today collected her after paying an 800 quid bill and a bike that does not run!!!

The long and short of it is that i am not happy and trading standards are involved.. I rode the bike in but they have since run it lean on the dyno one to many times and now she smokes and smells... They first thought it was the PCIII so they fitted one of the brand new PC V's but that didnt fix it. What a polava i have been through im so upset and pissed off with the whole experience that im not even going into detail here i just cant.. Some of you on here know what the bike means to me and how she came to be mine after a friend passed and left her to me in his will..

All that said, she is now in my mates garage and about to be diagnosed so i know what she needs to get her back to full glory again.. I was going to offer the PC V for sale, but i will need it when she is back on the road.

Just thought i would sahre my tale of woe..

I am now the proud owner of a Rocket III so im still on the road..
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Blubber

What is the colour of the smoke?

It could fuel related....  Fingers crossed.

These engine are relatively bullet proof, a little lean wont harm it immediately.

Nevertheless,  they cocked up.

Blubber

Blue / grey smoke is oil related. Stem seals or piston rings

Black smoke is fuel related.... Over fueling in general.

hopefully its just a fuel related issue but if seals it'll hopefully be top end as they get hottest in the engine
sad state tho as you just wanted it fixed/running properly not made worse .
good luck and hope its sorted very quickly.
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Ye gods, so much for "professionals" then. That's absolutely terrible - lets hope it hasn't done too much (if any) damage Jay, not good at all. I also hope trading standards come through for you, they are good, but can take a bit of time, even so I think then that you may have to engage a solicitor, so may be worth considering who sooner rather than later.

Maybe try these guys first, I know they are primarily accident, but they may be able to point you in the right direction or advise http://www.whitedalton.co.uk/
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Its blue smoke and you can smell the oil..
Hoping it isnt tooo drastic.

so sad for you mate. really bad stuff. i guess if you didnt pay they kept your bike. heard sim story a little while back, car dyno near my work, it broke the motor, had to tow away. ive heard them absolutely loading the guts out of other cars. thats what your blokes have done. total negligence i reckon. certainly destroys us mechanics, just because you have tools, doesnt mean you know how to use them.

DanGSX

Hi mate,

Sorry to learn of all your problems you're having. I can't begin to feel what you're going through. I've had a few bad experiences with mechanics damaging my bike and basically looking in all the wrong places for faults, costing more labour.

I reckon plastering your story everywhere would hurt their business more than the cost of setting it right for you.

Keep us posted.

Sweaty

Sorry to read your shitty post. Hope it works out for you  :onya:

Andre

Sorry for this but it could be worse. Imagine the mechanic was a medical doctor and did something equivalent to one of your loved ones. Been there. Lots of incompetent people out there. Bet we all have seen shit of this kind. And then you have to pay for their crap with money and emotions.

Sorry to hear of your bike woes. Hope its not costly to repair.
Dont think i could hold my hand out for payment after giving you back a bike that wont go. Certainly not for £800 !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I hope you get it sorted.

Your 1550 is a special bike.

Cheers,
Rick
