Even by my standards I did a particularly remote ride today.. 170 miles in total (275km)
If my Google maps link Danes to work you can see my meanderings here:
In fact some of the moorland roads were inhabited by a large heard of Cattle with loads of young calves and a very large muscular Black Bull.
I did get off my bike to photo them but left Sophie ticking over just in case the Bull took a shine to me !!
I got caught in a very heavy rain storm on my way back.. I was only wearing a mesh jacket over a T shirt..
It was surprisingly enjoyable actually, due to it being pretty warm and humid (for the UK)..
I was slightly concerned when I looked at my weather app that it said heavy thunder storms were 2 hours away from where I was..
No problem inside a car but I suspect a bike isn't the best "Faraday cage"!

In the very depths of nowhere I came across the cutest thing I've seen for a long time..
Just outside a very remote farm gate there was a sort of box on stilts.. It said "Water & Cake for sale"
On the top shelf was a T pot which served as the "Honesty Box"
I paid for a bottle of water and a piece of very nice lemon drizzle cake and notice what must have been over £30 in the T Pot!!
How many places anywhere can you do such a simple, wonderful thing without being robbed by scum bags!
It was heartwarming to see.

Looks like a fair old run that you had there Speedy :onya:

There are a few of those honesty box type stalls not far from me, the closest is approx 10 miles up the Conwy valley towards Betws y Coed, it is an old milk float that they fill the back with fresh vegetables and spuds from the local farm, although I have never stopped it's been there a good few years which would indicate that people must be pretty honest and leave the cash, closer to the coast I doubt it would work as the local clowns would simply just take and leave no cash!

Cheers, Pete

Singlet = singlet
Stubbies = short shorts
Thongs = (UK) Flip Flops, (NZ) Jandals - was a brand name here & they got called that.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Not where I used to live.
Where I am now the next property over from my neighbour has a van parked at their front gate (probably a non-runner). Doors always open. It's a fruit and veg stall. I buy onions, oranges, potatoes, apples, pineapples etc etc from there as do a lot of the local village. It's not on the main highway but very visible for anyone up our road heading to the next village. Never seen anyone staffing it. Money in the box.

There's a few honesty box roadside stores out here but most as low value items, home grown plants, horse manure, firewood etc with honesty box's but the fruit and veg one near me is the most shop like.

I think you have found UTOPIA. Byron Bay, Nimbin etc. used to be like that. I even remember it being like that when I moved to my place 37 years ago.

I used to know a tea room run with an honesty box in the wilds of Yorkshire, was a lovely spot so I stopped when near there.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Did a little East loop yesterday morning. 441K's / 274 miles. Changed a heap of setting, quick shifter speed, shift light gaps, display etc, and tested the taller screen.  Pretty much how I want it now.  2 little jobs still to do then I'll leave it alone and just ride it.

Today.  A very extended coffee run along the range and down into the valley. Almost a month into Winter here.

Now without that awful iridium windscreen and now with the correct coloured seat hump.  It go's surprisingly well, although I lack confidence in its Chinese touring tyres. Roll on getting my painted rims back and fitting something sticky.

I'm not a Busa fan, but those colours do suit it.

The Blue on blue wasn't high on my wish list but it's growing on me. They used the same blue another year with a gold Kanji and gold wheels, but it's a pale gold.

As it's the summer solstice (except in upside down land) here's a pic from Callanish five years ago. It wasn't taken on a solstice but I like it anyway.

Remember folks, from tomorrow the nights start drawing in towards another long, cold & wet winter.

...and for us the days get longer and warmer...

Thanks Hooli mate, now I've got something to look forward to.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.
