Switched live

Had a Gpro from father Christmas and will soon get around to fitting - need to find a switched live but don't want to mess with wiring in the headlight ! Any ideas? use the horn feed?

I have a gipro that is soon to be getting fit too and after discussing this with others on the old forum the horn feed is the option I am going for yes. The reason being is that it is fused. It is also easily done by using a piggy back connection so no interfering with the bike wires is needed. Unfortunately I'm going to have to extend the wire on the gipro so it will reach but that's no biggy.

If you undo the headlight, the Orange wire leading to your ignition switch is "switched live". You can also pick this wire up again going into the bottom of the fuse box (which is where I picked the switched power up from)

As Barmy said...I used the orange from the bottom of the fuse box.

The loom supplied with the GiPro is stupidly long, so you'll need to lose about 30cm of it under the tank

I tapped in, spliced and then solder and heat shrink.

You can do notty but it's rather tight to do that - or do as Froudy did and splice in.

No - scotch locks are rubbish. Don;t use them.

At risk of sounding stupid, which I've done pretty well at recently, is it a solid orange wire going into the fuse box to tap into? Apologies as I've not yet looked properly, I just seem to recall there being a few orange wires going into there with different coloured stripes on them.

Is the feed at the rear light the brown wire? If so, would this also be activated with the parking light?

Yes, it is the solid orange wire going into the fuse box. Or you can tap into it in the headlight (as it goes up to the ignition).

Can't recall on the rear light though, sorry. Although if you have the tail off, you will find a wire lying there doing nothing on the loom. This originally was for an alarm for the 14, but Suzuki never bought one out for it - but its actually a live (so you wouldn't need to cut into your tail light (unless you want a switched live that is)

Thanks Barmy. Pulled the fusebox this afternoon to get to the underside and there it was. Tapped into that for the GiPro, so no more battery drain from now on.
