My M.O.T. Inspector said when he passed my bike that the front brakes were binding so this weekend I stripped the calipers again and I'm glad I did . The calipers were soaked and so were the pads. So new pistons and seals went in and new pads are on order. Some pics of what I mean.

Great job and pics :clapping:Will do same shortly.

Pads arrived today so they can be fitted which I'll do tonight and tomorrow I will attach the calipers to the bike, tighten up and then bleed ready for a ride out at the weekend  :boogie:.

Rear calipers were serviced yesterday, much easier than the fronts were , pistons were in excellent condition just needed a scrub with a green scotchbrite to clean up the edges, new seals went in although I don't think they needed them, peace of mind though knowing new ones are in place. Pads had plenty of meat left on them , so re-using. Went for a test ride no leaks or squeals so all good there. (F.y.i a 1/2 inch extension and a 14mm socket is needed if you are using the ratchet method to extract the pistons.) :onya:

Front brakes have gone all spongy and horrible,so I had the calipers off and found the pads were soaked . Stripped the calipers in half and found the two small pistons in both calipers were stuck fast so dealt with that issue. Seals were fine so I reused them , the problem I found was the two little 'o'rings that seal the two halves together had gone hard , so those were replaced, new pads arriving fri/sat, get them installed, mount the calipers back in place ,bleed it all and everything should be just fine . F.Y.I if you're using the ratchet system to get the pistons out, instead of using a socket use a long hex key instead it locks with the extension bar much better and pistons come out a lot easier  :onya: .

Hooli

Oh no DEATH GLOOM DESPAIR!

 :happy1:

The manual says never take them apart to get to those tiny O-rings...

Yeah we all do, who wouldn't? I've always reused the seals too, I replaced them once when I fitted new pistons & went back to mostly the old seals over the next few months as the pattern ones didn't fit properly & kept making pistons stick.

Enjoy getting a dry system to bleed, it can be a pain. There's lots of options but I just leave the nipples out, fill the reservoir and leave it for 5-10mins so gravity gets it started & the master cylinder full.

I have spare set of 6 pots. Thought about doing them up. Worked out around $230, seals, pads, paint. New bleeders n cover plates. No pistons included. I don't need them but postage anywhere just a fortune. Not really worth doing🤷🏼They do come up nice I reckon

Still happy with my 6 pots, I put a kit through a while back, all new seals, including the two little o rings between the halves. Same pistons but with a good clean up, and red rubber grease on the seals upon reassemble.

They're not showroom quality, but they stop the bike well, dont leak and still wash up nice, the original paint hasn't flaked or blistered at all.  Fed with Hel braided lines, metalgear Pinterest pads and as of last weekend, new penrite dot4 fluid and a full bleed.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Calipers all fitted and bled up, just gonna leave the brake lever tied up overnight so any residual air in the system can escape, and yes hooli a dry bleed is a p.I.T.A. So followed your advice , opened the bleed nipples and let gravity do most of the work, much easier result. Hopefully that is the end of the squidgy brake saga  :onya: .
