My lighter bike answer. Rode a few, nothing matched or nowhere near my old trusty 14.I bought a pair of 5kg dumbells, been using most days. Now my 14 feels much lighter, problem solved.Todays ride was a bit of a quick squirt, my reward for effort😎

Correct answer to the lighter bike question Grog :salute:

Personally for me the 14 is a light bike.

Was in a rehab clinic (2010) for a slipped disc. Head doc told me that the only thing to do about the sorry state of my entire spine was to strengthen the muscles. I was so weak that I was not able to participate in the full programme.

Took another, very extended rehab clinic vaccation in 2012 to get me on the road to health. 2013 joined a fitness center and did my thing there for 2 years. Then set up my own garage gym. Pretty basic stuff. Power Cage, a very good bar, lots of plates, a small array of additional stuff.

Complemented by walking and a much improved nutrition, I am now in the best overall shape in my life. Still much room for improvement. One baby step at a time. Consistancy beats intensity in the long run. Hard to change all areas at once. So pick one, work on it for a while before addressing the next.

When putting the 14 on the main stand, I have to remind myself to be gentle when doing so :happy1:

Your effort is huge compared to mine Andre. Im happy with my results but im not challenging you to an arm wrestle.

I'll vote for that too, 14s aren't that heavy. Mind you I've had mine so long anything smaller like my Hornet feels like a BMX. 14s also hold their weight quite low so don't topple over as quick as other bikes. My Sprint was lighter but felt a lot heavier as it was so top heavy.

That "huge effort" is just the result of many, many baby steps. Taking this in long-stride-mode leads you into the physiologic "devil's kitchen"; exhausting you physically as well as mentally. Imo, overdoing it explains why the vast majority of people having a contract with a fitness center quit going there while their contract isn't over for a long time.

As long as you are happy with the results and keep doing it, you are on the right track.  :onya:

Well done Grog.  I've posted before that I used to think the 1400 was heavy until I got my BMW. The Bavarian Mistress is an Aircraft carrier compared to our 1400's
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hmm not sure I agree with your there Eric - my R1250GS is not that much heaver than a GSX1400 - we are talking about 15Kg - and with the boxer engine it has the weight more at the bottom than the 14 does. Personally I've found it about the same to put on the mainstand as I did my old GSX1400.

Both are still damn heavy though!
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Ive test ridden those flat twin BMW, think it was 1250. Im not sure why you lot like them.

I think Eric is talking about his K1300 Dave, not a GS.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Correct, K1300GT transverse 4 65deg slant motor 166bhp shaft drive, with top box and panniers full load of fuel she's about 265kg. Makes the 1400 feel like my Daytona 675.

Never ridden a GS, only an F and that was rubbish.
