Hello,
Started stripping rear end of my 2006 14. Rear left shock gas seized preload adjuster.
I have read everything I can find on here about it, but have a couple of question.
The knob does not move at all, I would have thought that if the oil had gone ( there are no signs of leaks) the knob would still move, it just wouldn't move the shock? Or am I missing something?
If it is a lack of oil stopping it moving, I understand the small screw on the back needs removing and oil topping up, the screw appears to be a star drive but it has a metal pin in the middle, presumably to stop you removing it, since the workshop manual says not to dismantle. How do you deal with the pin, so you can remove the screw?

Mate been a while since i did this, faded memory. Screw to re oil is just a security torx. Just need to buy proper bit to remove, refit with allen key. Freeing up the adjuster is nothing to do with oil in preloader, its just seized. Instructions on here somewhere how to free it up.From memory used 90 gear oil to re fill.Mines probably seized again now, think its on 4 rings and have never needed to adjust once set. Sorry not much help, good shocks once serviced and set.IMO.

Yup as grog says it's just a security torx. You'll need a set at some point anyway as they used the same on the TPS/SPS etc.
