K2/K3 - 6 Way Clock Connector - Extra Wire

Ok, so just about to swap the K3 loom for a K2 (due to 2/3 coil connector being buggered), everything seems to be the same apart from the R/H switchgear connector (K2 is 10 way, K3 is 8 way) ... I have switchgear from a Busa that'll fit the 10 way (until I can buy K2 switchgear).

So started unplugging at the front end, and  :frustrated:  :frustrated:  :frustrated:

On the K3 loom, in the same part of the loom as the 6 way connector for the clocks, there's a dark green wire using a bullet connector, that runs up to the clocks ... this isn't on the K2 loom, and it doesn't appear in either the Haynes or OEM manual, for either the K2/K3/K4!

In fact the only dark green wire (according to Haynes) in the entire system is for the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor.

Anyone any idea what the hell it's for?

Any help much appreciated.

All the best ... Barry

Sadly not, but it's bloody useful for the future

The extra wire in dark green (outlined in yellow below), only seems to be present on the K3 loom, K2/K4 loom doesn't have it.

I think I'll go ahead and swap the looms, I only need to run the engine for about 15 minutes with the flushing oil before I  put lovely fresh stuff in.

AND THE PENNY DROPPED
While doing more tidying of my garage I came across a set of A4 sheets stapled together, detailing how to set up the gear position indicator (GPI) on the clocks, a mod done by one of the members from the old org('Q' I think).

I remembered I'd had the clocks converted to blue LEDs, but I forgot I also got the GPI built into the clocks as well ... which is where the extra wire running up to the clocks comes in.

So I can easily add the extra wire to the K2 loom and have the same functionality as the K3
