Sounds good - always a bargain when a previous owner has taken the hit for expensive parts !

Going to see the same bike tomorrow morning. It had broken fuel pump, thanks to rust in tank from years of standing. Only the pump was changed in service, rest of the pump setup was cleaned (teabag etc) and tank flushed. Forgot to ask about injectors.
I really hope I like riding it. Weather is showing sunny and +3°C.

If the high pressure filter hasn't been replaced it'll probably need to be soon if the tank was that dirty.

Hi Hooli and thank you for your reply.
I assume that said filter is between pump and injectors or in pump setup? Will have to ask it from service garage.

Edit. Found it, yeah it think so too.

I visited the service place (part reason was I went to ask my old bikes service prices for the new owner) when the bike was there for fuelpump change, good reputation place and they seemed honest. They show'd the tank and explained what and why. Owner is air cooled Suzuki guy and wanted to buy the 1400.

Greatest fear is 2nd gear. Expect bike that has yoshi cams, full exhaust and PC3 has seen some hard pulls.
And as nice low mileage looks on paper, bikes like to be driven. It has stud a years in cold garage, thats why tank rusted, so bit worried of what other gremlins it brings. It was fully serviced last summer with fresh tyres but driven only 100km.

Hi Samulis

Although I dont now have a 1400 (I have a CB1300) I did own a 2005 model for quite a while and loved it..
It was one of my 2 very best bikes to own.
Very long legged on a long run and a fantastic engine, which is as "bulletproof" as it gets.

On the subject of rusting fuel tanks (and this applies to ALL bikes)..
If storing the bike you really should store it with a full tank!
No air gaps means no air (oxygen)..
If stored for a long time this would mean that the fuel would have to be thrown away as it will go off eventually, but at least your tank wouldn't be rusty.

Would I have another 1400?
Yes I would.. But Ideally I would like to own both the bike I have now, and a 1400.
To do that I would like to have a garage (and I dont) and the spare cash for multiple bikes (and I dont).
Overall the 1400 is one of the best old school naked bikes there is!

I could not walk away. So now I have K3. It was 38k, now just turned 39k kilometers. Man it has nice torque and seems to pull all the way. Luckily DEVIL exhaust wasn't too loud, nice bass note. But it might need the high pressure filter, to be seen and I think I'll try original mirrors, those on bike are useless. Also have to add original crashbars for peace of mind. Drove it maybe a 100km and took it to friends garage.

I know, my old CB600 -08 is stached away with full tank and stabilizers.

How do you compare CB1300 to GSX1400? I was looking it too, but carbs, thirst and no 6th plus GSX engine looks way better.

Speedy1959

My CB1300 doesnt have carbs !

Photo shows my old 2005 GSX1400 with my current Honda next to it.
Its a 2010 and is fuel injected..
Yes it has 5 gears (Which I like)..Sometimes I reach for a 6th gear, but then on my 1400 I used to look for 7th!!
After the 1400 I thought it was high revving (4,000rpm at 70mph), but then that exactly the same as my mates Triumph Explorer 1200

Whats the difference?

The Suzuki wins on the Engine (Just) and the Honda wins on build quality and handling.
The Suzuki wins on the amazing under seat storage (Just about as the Honda is also good in that area).)
By Handling I mean the Honda is MUCH easier to turn into corners.. My Mate commented on my 1400 needing to be bullied into bends.. Yes it can do it and its pretty good for a large bike when you do it..
The Honda is much more willing in the bends..

As I said earlier I would love to own both..
Both are bloody good..
In the end its a personal choice what you end up with..
As you know, Bikes are much more personal than cars are.

Welcome Samulis - that's a nice looking bike, even if the exhaust has dropped off one side  :whistling:

I'm curious - how many months in a year are you able to ride in Finland?
