Yoshi baffle removal

Hi Guys,

My GSX 14 came with a Yosimura exhaust, which I am quite happy about.  However, when I wanted to see how it sounded with the baffle removed, I was surprised to find that, unlike every other aftermarket exhaust I've had, the baffle appeared to be a permanent fixture.  With other brands I am used to finding the baffle designed to be removed via a single allen key bolt.  The Yoshi baffle appears to be riveted in.

Is this standard for Yoshi exahusts?  Will drilling out the single rivet allow the baffle to be removed easily, or is the exhaust simply not designed to have it removed easily?  I am not interested in butchering the exhaust to find out!

As far as I am aware the baffle is riveted in and not designed to be removed on any Yoshimura road exhausts so that the exhausts comply with country noise legislation - that way if a motorcyclist does remove the baffle and then suggests that the manufacturer either removed it or "designed it to be removed" they have a genuine counter case that the baffle was never designed to be removed and thus if removed has been changed from the manufacturers specification.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

Looks like you could drill the rivet and replace it but I don't know what else you'll disturb when you remove it and try to refit it .

I have the exact same can on mine. The baffle has been removed prior to me getting it.  The can isn't butchered up, just the single rivet from the end, underneath, is missing.  It has a reasonable note with it & when working the engine through the revs it does sound good, but not as 'loud' 'good' 'grunty' as the Black with the 300mm Carbon Delkevic.  Both K6's.

I have the exact same ......

That's mine to a T as well. The sound is great. Not to loud and people I know say they know my bike by its sound from a distance. Just remove the rivet and pull the baffle/pipe out.  :onya:

I have a locally made Pipemaster muffler fitted to the original Yoshi Titanium headers using a step down tube. I regularly get it repacked to maintain the noise level to a really nice note. As a consequence of the extra back pressure from step down and packed/repacked muffler the bike is much smoother accelerating.
