Any help/advice on this c42 fault code would be much appreciated, so it happened a couple of days ago completely out the blue, FI light on the dash flashing and FI showing on the digital display on the speedo. So I jumped the two wires in the connector block for the service plug in and got the code c42 so thats an ignition switch signal fault or ignition switch wiring/plug fault. So thats where I'm at, I've read there was a uk recall an the ignition/immobiliser antenna issue on the k5 bikes which mine is, anyone know if that is right? Thanks in advance  :onya:

Yes there was a recall on the antennae of the early K5's which Suzuki GB are honouring still (or were a while back) - so to find out if yours has already been recalled and done you need to call them

Cool, I'll try giving them a call in the morning, thanks for that 👍

Maybe Tuesday morning, given it's a Bank Holiday in the UK tomorrow  :onya:

In the meantime, you could try some contact cleaner around the ignition connector in the Headlight, around the kill switch and clutch switch; also if you remove the LH side panel, pull the big grey plug apart, spray both parts with contact cleaner and re-assemble. Just in case yours has already been done and it's just dirty contacts causing the issue. Also - try your spare key to see if that sorts it and also spray the key with contact cleaner and I set in and out if the ignition switch a few times to clean the contacts there.

Yup that's a good point, Tuesday it is then :)
Ok so I already tried cleaning all the plugs etc behind the left side panel and around the battery and ECU, I've not done the one in the headlamp though so that could be a good shout, it happen on a trip away in pissing rain so I was kind of hoping it was just a bit water somewhere

Rustyrus, Did you have any joy with the recall on this issue? I have the same problem now.

Was out and about on SAturday, went to start her to go home and FI was flashing. C42 error code came up. Got recovered home Saturday evening, Sunday morning bike started normally, ran fine then when I turned it off, went back into C42 error. Cleaned out every plug socket I could find, still in error mode. Got her out this morning, started completely normally again, switched her off, C42 error code again :frustrated:

Remember it could be anything connected to the same circuit as the part in c42 .
Have you looked at a manual (free to download or look at here) and see what else is connected .
Good luck

oh and a standard one too

It turned out to be the ignition antenna collar as mentioned elsewhere on this forum. The original one, after a good clean was working again but I managed to get a used one from a well known auction site which I fitted and also works perfectly. Turned out my bike wasn't registered on the Suzuki GB database and I am just awaiting confirmation that it now is and hopefully I can get a brand new one fitted under the service recall.

Hi,

How did this story end? Did you get new ignition collar? Is she working good now?

HI Guys, ive just pulled my 2007 GSX1400 out the garage after winter and she wont start, C42 code! ive put a new battery on and am still not getting anywhere. I have a continual flashing Red LED light, the fuel pump gives a audible sound but when i pull the clutch and press the starter, the headlamp dips but she wont do anything, is this part of the SAIS immobilisation system. Any tips please would be gratefully received. Thanks Rich

Seems its not recognising your coded key - have you tried your spare key? Might also be a bit of crud inside the ignition itself, maybe spray a bit of WD40 on the key and insert it 2-3 times to clean the tumblers etc.

I had same problem few years back, and here was topic or feed about it. Problem cause was the antiteft colar around the key hole. And there has been manuafacturer recall campain to change it. At least in england, but when i contacted local importer in Finland they said that same recall campaing were also in here, so i get towed my bike in local Suzuki shop and they replaced the collar and it works like a charm!

Hope this helps mate!

And my bike is 2005 model.
