Right then, trying to do the rear shock repair as its leaked oil.....
Upto trying to refill the chamber with oil with a syringe but all thats happening is none at all goes into even though Ive got a syringe that fits all the way in through the tiny hole.....
Im going as slow as I can tiny drop at a time but it just builds up back out as if the tiny hole goes nowhere....anybody done this?

Yes I have done one of mine with a little 5ml syringe.

As George Harrison sang, you're going to need patience and time.

I found it works best if you have the shock on the slackest possible setting, angled so that the oil fill hole is at the highest point. I also used a little bit of copper wire to poke about in there and burst any bubbles.

Fill up to the brim, tighten the filler plug, adjust the shock all the way up as far as it will go, slacken off again, take out the filler plug, fill up to the brim again, rinse and repeat.

Took me 3 full cycles to get the max range of adjustment. Each time it goes a bit further than last time, but it isn't really full until you can go all the way to '5 rings' and back again.

I used EP90 gear oil, but pretty much any reasonably thick oil will do.

Good luck.

Im doing the same as you then.....how much oil did it take to fill up...and how much time as I might being impatient as every drop I put in just seems to come back up the neck

Been at it now for 2 hours and its not even getting to the first ring yet....getting 8 clicks on the adjust from fully slack but was getting 5 when I started

Mister Fishfinger

It's hard to tell without seeing it. Mine didn't take much oil, I don't think I used a whole syringe full even with spillage.

Are you sure it's not still leaking?

Its definitely not leaking as Im filling it,its the fact for some reason it doesnt appear as if any is going in....as soon as I enter 1 blob of oil it builds up in the thread where the m5 screw is and builds itself back up..

Mister Fishfinger

Maybe if you can get a long thin nozzle for the syringe?

Thats what Ive got...I get it in until it hits the metal at the other end but all the oil does is pump back out as if all you've got there is this hole and the rest is blocked.....I know Ive got all the old oil out as I still had the adjuster one 1 line when I opened the screw and the remaining oil flew out onto my boody sweater .....
Thinking of draining whatever is in there out again and filling it with wd40 incase theres a blockage

The easiest way I found is to remove spring and put adjuster in vice. Set adjuster in "soft" position and knob in hardest position. Add oil while moving adjuster in harder position (expanding to get spring shorter) and after that, add oil while turning knob in soft position. Let the adjuster "suck" the oil. Did mine in 10 min each

Ok....so which do you call "adjuster" and which is the "knob"

seth

The big one adjusts the spring the small one adjusts the damping

Sorry guys, but my english is bad. :frustrated:
I will try to explain...
The goal is to create as small as possible chamber volume in preload adjuster assembly- black plastic knob tightened to the max but only first ring mark (out of 5) visible.
Next step is to create bigger volume for oil. Put whole preload adjuster assembly in vice and press it while adding oil in it using syringe. After 5th ring mark is visible, turn plastic knob anti clockwise while adding oil. Let the whole preload adjusting assembly "suck" the oil. I found that way fastest to put max amount of oil in it. That has nothing with damping or rebound djusters.
I hope I explained this time

Blubber

it's not your English, I understood you perfectly the first time.

It does help to have some technical insight or experience  ;)
