I also run another site which may be of interest, particularly to those here in Australia.

www.gayundah.info

Ermmm..... not so sure about that web page title Vlad.  Had me wondering until I saw the boat pics  :whistling:

VladTepes

hehe yeah mate.  It's an aboriginal word for "Lightning" .  Not much I can do about the name of her...

Anyway the site is not catering for those insecure about their seamen....

They parked the container ship MV Rena on Astrolabe Reef a few years ago.....Now thats history !!

First cargo they removed from the ship were............ the hookers.
Maybe the skipper was distracted ??  They drove it onto the reef going flat out. The reef breaks in rough weather. So i guess they should have known it was there.
You could see the ship from the shore. Made a hell ot a mess.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Shame none of the cargo didn't come ashore to have
look check and look again  then you see the fool

Some did, quite a few containers fell off.
Lots of sharks turned up as the refridgerated containers thawed out.

Here's one I took of HMS Medea

To be honest though I did look but couldn't find any usable parts  ;)

If it was anything like a Land Rover many of the new ones would still be the same......

Great pics, very interesting too.
These 2 & many others used to berth just outside my office in the gulf during the early 80's so I made a model of one of them, I knew the skipper & engineer  ( I was chief-engineer for a dive company )  so I had unlimited access for research.
I DO have to grow old, I DO NOT have to grow up.

Is that scratch built?

Yes, that one is, 100% by me.
Here's the waterfall winch, its about 100mm long & all metal.
The real one is around 3 to 4m high, & that hand-wheel is 1m dia!
