Hi all, my 2006 fe has developed a whine in all gears and neutral clutch in clutch out between 30/40mph. Sounds like wind noise. Anyone any clues?

Hi, No pillion I always ride solo. Regards Oil level, that is spot on and fresh new oil. The bike has just been dealer serviced including valve clearance's, which were in spec no shims needed. The bike has done 34000.

Does the rear wheel spin freely when up on centre stand ?
Does the engine make the noise while running but in nuetral?
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Brakes ?
Chain ?
Clutch ?

Do you have any idea where the noise is coming from in the motor or from wheels

The more info you can give the better we can help point you in the best way to start checking things .

Did it do it before the service or did it do it immediately you picked it up from the service. If the latter take it back to the dealer and have him sort it as if it "develops" a fault immediately postr a service then its likely to be something the dealer did.

Did the dealer change the clutch fluid during the service?  Apart from the neutral clutch does it change gear ok?

Have you checked chain tension (remember to do this whilst on the side stand). I'm wondering if the chain is over tightened and/or the sprocket carrier bearing might be on the way out (see if you can "wiggle" the rear sprocket in the first instance, if not, then remove rear wheel to check the bearing)

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

As said, there's a multitude of things that 'could' cause this, but I'd be leaning towards chain (either tension or worn out) or sprocket carrier bearing.
You say above, between 30/40 mph, does the noise go away after this speed?   And Dave's mention about if this has just started happening after the dealer service is very valid.  Even though they're proffessionals, sometimes the customer doesn't get a fully proffessional job for the money they pay.
